Maeve, Margot or Greta?

Fussy husband and I have finally agreed on a shortlist of three names that we BOTH really like - it's a miracle!

Maeve
Margot
Greta

I'm very excited about these three, and expect I'll keep changing my mind on my favourite right up until the birth. I don't think I really mind which we go with. Curious as to which one everyone else on here prefers...

Love them all! Margot is my very favorite but it’s gaining popularity. Love Maeve and Greta too! Ahh I don’t know what I’d choose!

Are you Irish? I think using Maeve is a bit odd if not, and I'm confused with it being grouped as a geriatric name: I know Maeve's of all generations but I'd say peak 'Maeve' age is probably early 40s, so it's more like a Claire or Sarah than a Margot or Greta.

I don't think Greta Thunberg is going to be people's primary association with Greta in five years, I think Margot is my favourite though.

I actually really like them all. Strong names.

I think Maeve is beautiful and will be a lot less common than the other 2 in 5 years time. Though they're lovely too.

I like Maeve and Greta, but not keen on Margot which sounds a little haughty. Suggestions: Mavis or Mabel.

Maeve 100%- it’s beautiful.

Greta is horrible and makes me picture GT all twisted and angry faced.

Margot - makes me think of the 70s /80s show the good life.

Margot pronounced Mar gott is harsh sounding so unless you're in France, I wouldn't spell it the French way.

Greta sounds nice in Swedish or German but not in English imo

Well I love Greta. Maeve is my great nan and Margot is the miserable neighbour from the good life. Before anyone says “young people won’t remember that” Im early 30’s.

Will be interesting to see what the official name stats for Greta are next year - it was at -#673 (61 births) when DD was born in 2017, slightly higher last year (#560, 74 births). Wonder if the Greta Thunberg effect will kick in for 2019 or whether its ‘marmite-ness’ will keep it from getting super popular! Margot is already in the top 100 I think.

Yes @TempsPerdu - Greta is still a pretty unusual name and I can’t see it docketing thousands of places in a year. I meet a lot of newborns and not met a greta this year. It’s a gorgeous name- i would def consider it. Margot is still my favourite from the list though ❤️

Love Margot, wouldn’t choose Greta, too witchy as pp said and Maeve is a bit.... meh

According to DD Greta would be likely to be bullied at school due to name, Margot is in Despicable Me so she said Maeve is the least worst and not heard it.

I love all 3 but think Margot is quickly becoming very popular and not as unique/classic as the others.
