Juno, Lilias, Laurel or Evangeline

I am boring people on here, I'm so sorry of you've already read my threads with debate around Evangeline already 🙈 But I felt her kicking today for the FIRST TIME and suddenly felt like 'I must have a name for you!' Very hormonal no doubt. This is the shortlist, Juno is new.
DP likes Lilias and Evangeline best, I like Evangeline least because of the shortenings.
Gawd, I'm a broken record...

Oh and Juliana may be the middle name (family name)

I like Juno. But I don’t think Juno Juliana is a good combo.

reefedsail · 22/12/2019 18:25

Lilias- is that not going to become Lily-ASS at school? Lilia is lovely.

CassandrasCastle · 22/12/2019 18:25

Haha, no - different middle name if it was Juno definitely!

OP posts:
CassandrasCastle · 22/12/2019 18:26

No. It is a Scottish name pronounced Lily-iss/Lily-uhs. (Sorry not v good at these phonetic typings) It's not LilyASS.

DD is friends with a Lilias- she gets told it's a boy's name lots or just gets called ass. Yep kids are cruel but unless you're planning on naming her that and calling her Lily it might cause her issues? I'm not super fussed on any of your names personally but if I had to pick I'd go for Evangeline so she can go by Eva if she wants in later life

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 22/12/2019 18:28

My order of preference would be:

Evangeline
Juno
Laurel
Lilias

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 22/12/2019 18:29

Also I think Lina is a lovely nn for Evangeline rather than the more obvious eve/evie :)

LittleSweet · 22/12/2019 18:31

I love Laurel. Mallory is another favourite one. I like them both together.

RoseMartha · 22/12/2019 18:33

Laurel

Cbeebiesrehab · 22/12/2019 18:45

I feel Evangeline is a bit of a mouthful but I don’t like Evie (even though that’s the natural shortening of my daughter’s bc name!) I’d like Lina though! Went to school with a Laurel and the name always felt a bit frumpy on her. LOVE Juno. Not a fan of Lilias and don’t really like Lily. I like Lilia though.

CassandrasCastle · 22/12/2019 19:03

Sorry about the tribulations of your daughter's friend Lilias kitk But someone will be along soon to tell me about vange/minge or whatever re. Evangeline.
I've always loved Lilias bit now I'm naming an actual child I know I have to balance it with the 'kids can be cruel' thing. Although I got bullied for red hair, despite my nickname also being the nickname for a toilet so...guess there'll always be something 🤔

My parents are VERY Christian, and despite loving Juno myself, I feel like it might upset them somehow...oh dear 🙈

Greggers2017 · 22/12/2019 19:21

Sorry but it's your baby. If my parents were going to be upset I'd tell them to do one:l, they got to name me and my siblings, it's my turn I now.

You are being pretty unfair dismissing the poster who said about the name calling due to names. It happens and I think you really need to think about it when naming your child so you are not setting them up for a life of name calling. I went to school with a Richard Head, you can imagine what he was always called.

I love the name Lilia, it's pretty. Juno is lovely. Laurel makes me think or laurel and hardy but I had a friend called laurel and she really suited it. Evangeline to me is a bit pretentious and try too hard.

Juno to me is my favourite.

PlantPotting · 22/12/2019 19:29

Juno is my favourite by a mile

A lovely unusual name without all the frill of the rest of your names. Sorry I really don’t like any of your others but love Juno

CassandrasCastle · 22/12/2019 19:46

I'm not dismissing the poster. I just have experience of being bullied as a child, but not for my name, and I also don't see Lilias as particularly 'cruel'.

Don't be sorry that you don't like the names on my shortlist :p

OP posts:
CassandrasCastle · 22/12/2019 19:46

I don't think Laurel is particularly frilly though

OP posts:
CassandrasCastle · 22/12/2019 19:47

Also sorry but Lilias being compared to Richard Head...no. Come on now

OP posts:
Peachbubble · 22/12/2019 20:14

From your list, Laurel. Goes nicely with Juliana too.

MaryBoBary · 22/12/2019 20:30

I like jump and evangeline best out of your list but not crazy about them. Evangeline is nice but a bit of a mouthful, what do you think of Everley?

MaryBoBary · 22/12/2019 20:30

Juno obviously, not jump

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/12/2019 20:36

In order of preference

Laurel - beautiful, underused name
Evangeline - another beautiful classic
Lillias - though I much prefer Lillian, Lillith or Lillia
Juno - seems faddy to me

MeMeMeYou · 22/12/2019 20:43

I like Juno the best of these.

I can’t quite get away from thinking of Laurel and Hardy with Laurel. I love Laura and Flora instead. I do like the plant, Laurel, but it’s not my first thought.

daisypond · 22/12/2019 21:18

I really like Lilias. Laurel is great too. Juno is fine. Evangeline is my least favourite. It’s frilly and Victoriana compared to the others.

missmouse101 · 22/12/2019 21:20

Laurel and Juno, although I prefer Juniper.
