Considering this for baby girl due in 4 weeks! What are your thoughts? Have you ever come across one?

Sibling for DS 4 yrs Moses if that makes a difference! Smile

Liba (LEE-buh pronunciation, Jewish name, means love)
As @AutumnalLeaves38 suggests is lovely or go wit Elizabeth. Best name ever as it shortens to so many others. You might decide she’s a Lizzie, Beth, Eliza or Libby later when your hormones have calmed down.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2019 18:44

Wonder if you'd all be quite to nasty to her face?

Do you understand the difference between giving opinions on a name for an as yet unborn baby and being rude to a person's face about their name?

nocoolnamesleft · 13/11/2019 18:44

The other thing demonstrated on this thread is how many people struggle to spell Libya. Which is another good reason not to use it as a name.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 13/11/2019 18:45

Nobody has been nasty.

HUZZAH212 · 13/11/2019 18:55

I can get the 'heart of the sea' name as being a nice companion to Moses. However on baby names website it also says meaning - 'fat'. 🙄

Bluerussian · 13/11/2019 19:00

Gordon Bennett, no way! Dreadful idea, whatever are you thinking or is this a wind up?

'Libby' is a diminutive of Elizabeth; why not call her 'Elizabeth' and use the diminutive of 'Libby'?

Your daughter will certainly not thank you for calling her Libya - but I have a feeling you are joking.

thunderandsunshine01 · 13/11/2019 19:09

I must say I really don’t think it’s a good idea, and I’m not particularly precious about what others choose to name their children...

Libby is A-OK to be on the bc imo. Olivia, Elizabeth, Elisabeth and Livia all other good alternatives in this case.

braw · 13/11/2019 19:18

Lavinia? Liana/Leanna? Lila? Lola? Leah?

ballsdeep · 13/11/2019 19:27

I thi k some people would be bonkers enough to do this. After all, there are children named Egypt and India!

Roselilly36 · 13/11/2019 19:27

Can’t be a serious post surely

madeyemoodysmum · 13/11/2019 19:28

Ridiculous

If you like Libby just use Libby.

Saharafordessert · 13/11/2019 19:51

No one has been nasty....they’ve just saved you from making a really bad choice.

happycamper11 · 13/11/2019 19:53

Oh god no.. Olivia, Elizabeth or you could actually use Libby as a name in its own right. Moses and Libya - absolutely not 🙈

Goodebe · 13/11/2019 19:54

Lillia?

DramaAlpaca · 13/11/2019 19:55

It's a child, not a Womble

So funny Grin

Just call her Libby.

Slappadabass · 13/11/2019 19:56

Nooo, too much like Labia. That was my instant thought.

Libby is lovely though.

Grandmi · 13/11/2019 20:00

Sorry but Libya has too many negative connotations!! When you choose a child’s name think about how they will feel when an adult and studying History ! Olivia or Livia are pretty names .

happycamper11 · 13/11/2019 20:01

@DerbyshireGirly I know a 20 year old Isis. Everyone always said it was a beautiful name. And it is. But it's ruined now

The parents of Isis had no idea what the future connotations of this would be though. It does sound lovely but I'm sure they would not choose it now.

msmith501 · 13/11/2019 20:02

Call it labia and pay lip service... ffs pls don't call it Lybia... unless you want to doom your child to a life of challenges.

MidnightMystery · 13/11/2019 20:09

I'm not a fan, how about Lyndi or Evie?

Biscuitsneeded · 13/11/2019 20:35

Just call her Libby. It's a nice name.

runoutofideasnow · 13/11/2019 21:10

You're naming an actual person. Keep that in mind.

Ellmau · 13/11/2019 21:12

Lilia?
Linnea (it's pronounced more LinAYa though)?

SeperatedSwans · 13/11/2019 21:15

Oman, you can't be serious...

I'll get my coat.

Ken1976 · 13/11/2019 21:40

My 14 year old granddaughter is Liberty
