It’s horrendous and as soon as she realises the connotations she will change it to Libby so save her time and effort now and call her Libby.

You know what - if Libya wasn't such a dangerous war zone I actually think it would be a nice name! 😂 but I defiantly wouldn't go with it. Libby is a lot better

Libby is lovely. Perfectly fine as a standalone name.

Libya will cause issues, as made clear on here.

I did once meet a Liba (LEE-buh pronunciation, Jewish name, means love) who used the abbreviation Libby.
Otherwise, yes, every other Libby I know is an Elizabeth or Elisabeth.

Nearly 9 years ago, I wanted to call DS Isis. My reasoning being that it’s an alternative name for the Thames, which joins Gloucestershire (where DH is from) and London (where I am from). Fortunately, DH is more politically aware than me.

I assume this is a peculiar joke. If not just consider what Libya means to most people and then reject it.
