First baby boy - stuck between Wilf (long form Wilfred) or Ivo...

Which do you prefer?

I prefer Wilf. I've never heard of Ivo.

Definitely not wilf..... if it HAS to be between the two then Ivo

Both cute as little boys names but they aren't cute for long and you have to imagine them in a mature grown man professional environment and whether the name would still suit....

AverageMummy · 13/10/2019 10:10

Wilfred
Never heard of Ivo

Lavenderblues · 13/10/2019 10:18

Definitely Ivo! Great name.

I really dislike Wilfred.

Lavenderblues · 13/10/2019 10:19

Both cute as little boys names

There is nothing cute about either Wilfred or Ivo.

Cute names are Archie, Teddie, Alfie etc

RickOShay · 13/10/2019 10:21

Ivo definitely. Great name.

ShanghaiDiva · 13/10/2019 10:22

Ivo

BuffaloCauliflower · 13/10/2019 10:22

Ivo! It’s gorgeous and I’d use it but DH isn’t convinced.

user1493494961 · 13/10/2019 10:26

Prefer Ivo.

Peachbubble · 13/10/2019 10:29

Ivo

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 13/10/2019 10:30

Neither for me, but if I had to then Ivo. Is it short for anything?

GOODCAT · 13/10/2019 10:30

Wilf because it was my grandad's name. I also know an Ivo who is in his 20s and is very bright, very practical and a lovely lad. You can't go wrong with either.

itssquidstella · 13/10/2019 10:30

I like Ivo.

RuthW · 13/10/2019 10:49

I love Wilfred. One of my fav names.

ChicCroissant · 13/10/2019 10:58

Ivo out of those two, but I am of the (older) generation that knows people with names like Wilf - to me, they are old men not toddlers. If you are younger and don't know anyone with those names they probably seem really unusual and fresh though!

Orlandointhewilderness · 13/10/2019 11:03

I love wilf.

OublietteBravo · 13/10/2019 11:06

I love both (sorry not much help).

DS has Wilfred as a middle name (DH vetoed it as his first name). He’s 13 and I still love it.

MissHenty · 13/10/2019 11:09

I LOvE Wilf(red) !!! Perfect name for a little boy to grow into a man

Is Ivo short for Ivor? My husband totally vetoed any suggestion like this as a boy at his school with this name was teased constantly “Ivor Biggen” 🙈 Kids are cruel

AfterSomeAdvice1234 · 13/10/2019 11:19

Love love love Wilfred. But prefer Freddie to Wilf. Ivo is ok.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/10/2019 11:20

Ivo by far.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 13/10/2019 11:51

Ivo. Ivo Graham is a great comedian, was on the News Quiz this week with Andrew Maxwell. Dream team!

ShippingNews · 13/10/2019 11:57

Imagine him in his 30's , introducing himself at a job interview. Neither of these names sounds like they belong to an adult.

MissHenty · 13/10/2019 12:15

@ShippingNews but they will by the time they are adults - have you seen the top 20-30 boys’ names lists at the moment?

BadSun · 13/10/2019 12:23

Definitely Ivo.

MissHenty · 13/10/2019 12:23

@ShippingNews the reason they don’t sound like an adult to us is because no one at school 30 years ago had these type of names so we don’t know any of our friends with them. In 20-30 years time there will be many boys (now adults) with these type of names and they’ll sound totally normal
