Don’t be too harsh please. I have a very different taste to many of you on here... for example Elizabeth, Eleanor, Genevieve etc aren’t for me at all. If it’s horrendous please tell me, without the patronising comments.

Briony Rose

Just heard the new girl in the office is called Briony which I think is a better fit than Blakely.

Yesivenamechanged11 · 02/10/2019 20:42

Blakely is the phonetic pronunciation of a really rough bit of Manchester, the name does not bring about nice connotations. Sorry 😐

MsTSwift · 03/10/2019 08:10

Having a 13 year old myself I cringe at some of these names as most fail the 13 year old test - she will be Hmm to her friends about your choice of name. I shudder at some of the corkers I wanted to call dd1 when I was pregnant when I tell her now she is horrified

MissHenty · 03/10/2019 10:42

@MsTSwift can you give us examples?

BuildBuildings · 03/10/2019 10:55

No sorry I don't like it. It is hard to say and it sound like a made up name. But then do what you want. I don't think anyone should be overly invested in anyone else's baby name.

Crystal87 · 03/10/2019 11:11

I like it but prefer Blake.

Aurorie11 · 03/10/2019 11:14

To the mumsnetter who suggested Briar Rose, it's a Wetherspoon's in Birmingham

timshelthechoice · 03/10/2019 11:15

It's a surname.

I really don't like it. Rose is nice. Blakely just sounds terrible and made up.

Kdhess12 · 04/11/2019 20:57

I wanted to let you know that I too have made my top name Blakely Rose. Rose was my grandmothers middle name. My husband and I came across Blakely and have really liked it over our other choice, Peyton. I think it sounds beautiful and doesn’t sound weird at all. If you and your SO like it, I say go for it! It’s different and I can see my daughter as a Blakely. If you feel the same, don’t worry about what others think :)
