Don’t be too harsh please. I have a very different taste to many of you on here... for example Elizabeth, Eleanor, Genevieve etc aren’t for me at all. If it’s horrendous please tell me, without the patronising comments.

I quite like it OP. I did initially think it a little odd but actually it's grown on me.

IndianaMoleWoman · 25/09/2019 18:50

Blackley (pronounced blakely) is a really rough part of Manchester, so that’s my first association I’m afraid.

TamarindCove · 25/09/2019 18:51

I don't think it sounds very nice at all, sorry.

I agree with those that have said the two l's make is a bit cumbersome and also the poster who said it sounds like Surname, First Name.

MikeUniformMike · 25/09/2019 18:59

Bleakley Rose
Blake is better than Blakeley.

painauchocolat84 · 25/09/2019 19:08

I really don’t like Blakey... sorry OP.

painauchocolat84 · 25/09/2019 19:09

Rose is nice though!

SoftBlocks · 25/09/2019 19:11

Sorry don’t like it.

whatausername · 25/09/2019 19:12

IA with @bridgetreilly and @DelphiniumBlue. Just use Blake.

UrsulaPandress · 25/09/2019 19:12

Was going to mention the grim Manchester suburb but see someone else already has.

ifigoup · 25/09/2019 19:13

I think it’s quite pretty. Not really to my taste, but a perfectly nice name.

Disfordarkchocolate · 25/09/2019 19:15

Massively showing my age but I kept seeing Blakey as in On the Buses. It just feels a little clumsy to my ears.

LG93 · 25/09/2019 19:16

Blakely sounds too much like Blake lively rolled into a single name for me

yetanothernane · 25/09/2019 19:17

Blakeley is a bit of a mouthfull. I struggle with the 'ley' part on the end. I also assumed it was a boys name due to the Blake part.

Have you had any other ideas?

AverageMummy · 25/09/2019 19:17

I do think it sounds awful I’m sorry
Rose is beautiful and classy - Blakely is terrible

I do know what you mean about mumsnet tastes - seem to be quite middle class so things like hyphenated names are an absolute no or names like Jayden etc whereas in society there are clearly lots of people who like those sorts of names. I would put Blakely in that category.

yetanothernane · 25/09/2019 19:17

*assmed it was boys due to the Blake part. Sorry for typo

CatrionaTheCatfish · 25/09/2019 19:18

I know a little Blakely! I like it.

Beckham19 · 25/09/2019 19:19

My daughter is called Blake. We call her Blakely, as a nickname.

I wasn't sure at first and it took a few weeks for it to settle but I love it now, and couldn't imagine her being anything other than, Blake Smile

Celebelly · 25/09/2019 19:21

It's weirdly awkward to say, for some reason. Think it's the 'l and 'ly' so close together. It's not a name that rolls off the tongue.

Grim

Bouffalant · 25/09/2019 19:58

No, it's ugly. The 2 L sounds don't work.

Rose is lovely.

Bringonspring · 25/09/2019 20:01

Blakely-no

MissLadyM · 25/09/2019 20:04

Get that bus out!

FizzyGreenWater · 25/09/2019 20:07

No, try saying it out loud! It sounds like you're trying to say the more logical 'Blakey' but tongue-twisting it. It's a hard word to say, it sounds made up and it really isn't a name.

I think you can get the same feel with several other choices.

Brooke
Blythe
Blair

Maybe look at some American baby name sites?

Rose is fine, but ultra boring as a middle name.

Briar, as suggested upthread, is a rose-type name - how about that?

Milkstick · 25/09/2019 21:15

I love it. I do think it depends where you're from - in my home town it would have a bleh sound at the start and in Sheff it would be that plus the leh at the end. If it's going to have an ay sound in the first syllable i think it's ace. It really lifts Rose too, not usually a fan of Rose. I am an unfan of those names you mentioned too. Do it, OP, if you love it.
