I don't think other people care too much about other people's names. Hear it once, you get used to it. Unless it's extreme.

I'd choose Roman if I had to choose between those two. But choose what you like. Not what we like!

Charlieislovely · 13/09/2019 18:55

Bodhi. But I'm biased & get so many compliments on it.

Icantthinkofanynewnames · 13/09/2019 19:48

OP neither name is uncommon, you’ve literally been shown name statistics which show you this! They’re both very very common now, UK-wide, which means they’ll probably date really badly. Why ask for opinions if you don’t like honesty?

Scarletoharaseyebrows · 14/09/2019 08:42

One of the Jenner brothers has a child called Bodhi. Burt Jenner, I think.

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 09:03

@Geebee123 we’ve shown you the statistics. Both names are becoming DRAMATICALLY more common. Two years ago yes things were different. If you’re wanting a unique name, do not pick Roman. It’s climbed over 600 places in the name charts over the past 15 years. It’s about to enter top 50 names. On current growth trajectory it’ll be top 10 in a couple of years.

“Boring” Names like John, Peter and David are far rarer nowerdays

Here’s the website we are all using:

Look at the explosion of “Roman”

alwaysdressedinyellow · 14/09/2019 09:06

I know the cutest dog called Bodhi....but no, not for a child.

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 09:26

@Geebee123 do you mind me asking what your daughters’ names are? If you don’t want to say then you could try typing their names into the graph and you can see how the popularity of their names compares to the popularity of Roman and Bodhi. You can click on the graph and see the exact number of babies given that name per year

names.darkgreener.com/

Honestly you say you’re looking for something unusual and unique so we are just trying to help by showing you that Roman in particular might not be the name you are looking for. There was 2 baby Romans on TV show “baby club” CBeebies a couple of days ago. Out of a group of only about 8 babies!

Hotpinkangel19 · 14/09/2019 09:30

Bodhi is awful. Roman is okay but there are nicer names out there!

Rubicon80 · 14/09/2019 09:34

Could you not just use Alexander? A lovely name

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 10:02

@Geebee123 if you look on the graph, although Alexander is more popular than Roman at the moment you’ll notice it’s popularity is falling. On both names current trajectory, in a couple of years Roman will almost certainly have overtaken Alexander in terms of popularity.

Hope this is helpful. Apologies if not.

If you’re not sure about using Alexander how about a totally new name altogether.... one outside the top 100/150 (and not dramatically rising) maybe if you’re wanting it to be more unique

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 10:02

Sorry meant to link to the graph

Geebee123 · 17/09/2019 11:50

I am grateful for everyone's honesty just didn't think that many people would find both names awful but i find names such as and peter/John so boring but thats just my opinion I'm quite spiritual and hippy that's how I came across BODHI and everyone I've said it too absolutely love it. I'm not one too listen too others so I'll still choose it lol...my husband is ALEXANDER so that's going too be the middle name...my daughter's are Sienna isabella and Saskia Reeva 😊

Have you picked Bodhi then OP? I think that’s an excellent choice

Roman is actually far higher up the name chats than Peter or John and has been for some time! I think it could become the next generations’ Keith or Nigel if it keeps getting so popular then suddenly disappears

Love your daughters’ names

daisypond · 17/09/2019 13:18

Roman is better. Bodhi is dreadful.

FizzyGreenWater · 17/09/2019 14:34

I love that typo @AlbertWinestein. OP go for Bisho! Honestly I'm not joking. It's great.

Bisho Alexander XX.

V cool.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 17/09/2019 17:55

Ah you're going for Bodhi after all? Yay!
I had it on my list for years, but had four consecutive DDs!
I think it's an awesome name.

MissHenty · 17/09/2019 18:26

Yes I think it’s a lovely name OP- good decision

percheron67 · 17/09/2019 18:57

Bohdi is ??? Roman is one who hails from Rome. Alexander is super.

Gooseysgirl · 17/09/2019 22:16

I love Bodhi (we know a Bodhi and the name really suits him!) and it goes nicely with your daughters names 😊
