Chavia

title inspired by my horrendous step MILF. she begged to know what names I’m considering so gave in and got told that my taste was getting ‘chavvier by the day.’ Cheers!
A click-baity title is needed as I am actually due in 5 days, Christ. And people on mumsnet are very attracted to the word ‘chav’ or variants aren’t they.

So my original thread is here.

Here is my shortlist
Harper
Everly
Wren
Skye
Savannah
Harlow - yes aware of the place in Essex!

Helppp! Maybe I should just settle for Chavia, that would piss off MIL!

Willow makes me think of pillow. And willy. Or maybe a pillow for your willy.

Not a willow tree then? Grin

This entire thread is a therapist’s wet dream!!

Oakandlove · 11/09/2019 01:37

not willow OP, it is as common as Mary now.

Harper is forever associated with Beckham trash.

Harlow - ah forget it.

Wren is not a good name, like the 'Wren Boy's" who go out on St. Stephen's day cadging cash in Ireland, certain members of the community, that word is a pain in the ass.

Everly is a name and actually quite a nice one. The word ever is a beautiful word. Skye os ok, it's soft but a bit boring.

happycamper11 · 11/09/2019 05:16

I think wren is awful, really ugly looking written down and I hate having a one syllable name myself. The kids at work are always disappointed when they only get one clap for their name too. Harlow is terrible I prefer chavia to ether of those lol. Harper makes me think of harpy and also the beckhams. I'm not especially keen on any of the other names if I'm honest. Skye is pretty chavvy for lack of a better word. I think out of all Savannah and Everly are ok

Ginmel · 11/09/2019 06:51

Violet, Darcie, Faith, Iris, Sorrell, Yasmin, Scarlet, Poppy, Eden, Saffron, Ivy

Still like Willow. Eden is lovely too

ifigoup · 11/09/2019 06:58

I like Harper, Skye, and Willow. Everly is fine but I prefer just Ever.

But your whole list is of perfectly fine names. Not really my taste, but it’s not my child!

SayWhatNowYall · 11/09/2019 11:39

Willow all the way!

elliex1 · 11/09/2019 12:22

Liking Everly Skye atm

joystir59 · 11/09/2019 12:28

Wrenetta? Is surely just a misspelling of Waynetta isn't it?

Anothernotherone · 11/09/2019 12:36

Ah the typo MILF Made me chuckle more than Chavia Grin

I'm not keen on your names, but Harper is the best in honour of Nelle Harper Lee if you're a 'To kill a mockingbird' fan.

I actually quite like Skye if you've at least been to and have pleasant memories of the isle of...

Harlow is really pretty irredeemable.

Anothernotherone · 11/09/2019 12:56

She's probably actually a cuckoo chick...

Wren has all sorts wrong with it as a name, tiny dull brown bird, surname, risky if your surname starts with T ...

Unless it's the mother's or grandmother's maiden name surnames as first names do seem such an odd choice - weren't they originally used to keep a family surname name going rather than randomly plucked from the air... Perhaps Wren if you're a massive fan of At Paul's cathedral...

Anothernotherone · 11/09/2019 13:02

Every for the Everly brothers? Crying in the rain?

Are there stories/ reasons behind your names elliex1 ? They make more sense if there are. My DD has always wanted a story behind her name, but it's just a name we liked which fitted our criteria of being a "classic" that worked in all the languages in use in the family, no immediate negative connotations, not top 20, unlikely to date, not likely to be misspelled - dull but practical logic disappointing to a young teen...

AverageMummy · 11/09/2019 16:04

Everly is terrible - at least go for the passable ones like Wren or Willow

I’m baffled that someone thinks of pillows for willies when they hear willow - I’ve never even heard of pillows for willies..... Grin

MikeUniformMike · 11/09/2019 16:07

Aren't testicles a pillow for a willy

MikeUniformMike · 11/09/2019 16:09

Call her Tess Tickle.
Tess isn't chavvy at all so it should please MILF

Nonmerci · 11/09/2019 16:58

I absolutely love Wren.

kittycat01 · 11/09/2019 22:48

Wren is the name of a terrible kitchen company!

I like Savannah and Harper!

Ginmel · 11/09/2019 22:54

I think everly is terrible. It feels like a made up name.

AverageMummy · 12/09/2019 05:39

@MikeUniformMike I guess they are!! Grin

PictureWall · 12/09/2019 21:50

Beverly

blueshoes · 12/09/2019 22:00

MILF speaks the truth

Poetryinaction · 12/09/2019 22:48

Everly sounds made up and surnamey to me too, but my taste would be very boring to you. I loved the original thread, some really funny suggestions. Nebula?
Savannah is the nicest on your shortlist. As you said, imagine all the teachers calling the register on the first day of secondary school. If it makes you cringe don't do it!

Poetryinaction · 12/09/2019 22:51

Pillow for your willy! Ha ha... Willow just makes me think of a weeping willow. It's a sad name.

Pinkarsedfly · 13/09/2019 06:52

Savannah Skye is lovely, but unfortunate initials.

Everly Skye is quite nice - reminds me of huge open skies - but in daily life she’ll just be Everly and that’s not so nice. The Skye lifts it.

Cantrip · 13/09/2019 10:20

I guess people might have different ideas of what “chavvy” means, but your names don’t mesh with my definition of the word. I’d say your selection is very “of the moment”, which on the plus side means your child is unlikely to get any grief for those names as they’re increasing in popularity, and on the negative side (maybe) includes names that are likely to become dated quite quickly. You can’t please everyone with a baby name, go with what you love best.

FawnDrench · 13/09/2019 14:08

Chavannah - wonderful name....
