We have an agreed boys name & we now finally have a shortlist for girls names (it’s been painful getting to this stage!!).... would love to know what you lot think.

If you hate a name please say why & don’t worry about being rude (unless you don’t know of course!)

Thank you lovelies

Martha
Juliet
Beatrice
Matilda
Rosa
Louisa

Louisa is the best. Classic and underused.

LarkDescending · 05/06/2019 23:47

Oh thank goodness this is not “AIBU to name my DD Whispers” Smile

Louisa is the standout - gorgeous, elegant, underused.

I like Rosa & Juliet, quite like Martha but wouldn’t choose it.

Matilda seems to be everywhere and I’m a bit over it.

Beatrice is a classic but has always felt frumpy to me for some reason.

Good list!

Love all except Martha, I really hate it but not sure why just seems like an ugly sound.

Eustasiavye · 05/06/2019 23:51

I like Juliet best.

Penny4Thoughts · 06/06/2019 06:55

@FionasWineShow it definitely seems a very marmite name!!

@BrainScience having read some of the threads on here I’m not sure ‘whispers’ would be completely ridiculous (for here!) Grin

Honestly thought you meant "Whispers", what do you think?

WhispersOfWickedness · 06/06/2019 07:26

Oi, what's wrong with the name Whispers? Wink

I have a Rosa so obviously that's my favourite, I love that it's easy to spell and say but still quite unusual (we've never met another one), and has positive historical connotations. My other top choice was Matilda though, but DH vetoed it.

grumpyyetgorgeous · 06/06/2019 07:26

I love your name choices, all really pretty. Louisa is my favourite and Beatrice my least favourite as it sounds quite hard.

mathanxiety · 06/06/2019 08:11

Martha - a name I associate with hens, and clucking.
Juliet - love, very elegant. Julie isn't too bad as a NN, has some 70s vintage charm.
Beatrice - like a lot, and like Beatrix too. Bea is a lovely nn imo.
Matilda - like a lot. Tilda a lovely nn. Has a Germanic/Scandinavian vibe.
Rosa - nice, elegant, international.
Louisa - nice, underused.

I think my favourites would be Rosa, Louisa, and Juliet.

Hens !! Grin

Martha - Like it. Martha’s are dependable and fun!

Juliet - OK, pretty. Little weak I feel.

Beatrice - Know one who is a little monster so I’m biased!

Matilda - Fun but naughty!

Rosa - Older name, obviously the child will be longer an adult than a child though!

Louisa - Nothing name to me, neither like or dislike.

FangsTasticBeast · 06/06/2019 09:45

Love Rosa, Matilda and Louisa

Really dislike Martha and Beatrice .

A little meh at Juliet

Rosa is definitely my favourite though. I know a lovely Rosa

Skyejuly · 06/06/2019 09:49

Louisa or Juliet

LarkDescending · 06/06/2019 09:50

Ahem. Martha’s not a hen, she’s a sweet fluffy lamb!

(From my childhood memories of the Blackberry Farm books) Smile

Lozz22 · 06/06/2019 09:58

Beatrice and Matilda

chipsandgin · 06/06/2019 10:03

Rosa is lovely & I like Bea & Trixey as nn’s but not so much the full Beatrice. Also love the Sadie suggestion, great name (& was up there in my top three girls names (along with Luella & Juno just in case they are of interest!). Only had boys though so never got to use them!

SoftBlocks · 06/06/2019 10:08

I only like Juliet. Maybe Rosa or Louisa.

The others are a bit dull and frumpy to my ear.

Penny4Thoughts · 07/06/2019 22:00

@homemadegin Harrow....there was a thread suggesting a girl named Tree!
