Baby boy due today and still don't have a name decided. Don't even have a shortlist to "see what he looks like". Came across this name last night and I kinda love it but don't know if I'm having a moment of madness because I don't love anything else and I'm climbing the walls waiting for him to arrive.

What are your thoughts?? Have a toddler called Eli, if that helps.

Congratulations OP. Now that he's here, does Fox suit him?
Do let us know what you finally decide.

RickOShay · 08/05/2019 07:14

Many congratulations Smile
Hope all is well.

I do understand people liking names I don’t etc
But I don’t understand ‘who cares if people hate it, it’s your child’
Surely a child isn’t a fashion accessory, so how people will react to their lifelong identity would be a consideration for me, I have a similar view to needing siblings names to ‘go’.

I originally said no to Fox but I’ve seen worse suggested on here (the one that sticks out is ‘Tree’).

The current trend is to be as different & unique as possible & express that via your kids - so to their peers - it’s likely Fox wouldn’t be as weird as it would be to an adult now. So I’ve revised my no to ‘it wouldn’t be for me’.

If you don’t use it - I’d go for it as a nn as you clearly love it. Suggestions:
Felix
Fabian Maddox
Frederick Rex
Flynn Dexter

Or use Fox as a middle name & nn

Anyway whatever you decide a massive congratulations - hope you & he are doing well.

I only say that as I have a really unusual name and so many people think it's caused me problems. I've never once been bullied and I have a great job. It's only the postman who can't come to terms with it 🙄 but he must be close to retirement so hopefully it won't bother him for too long.

CylindraceousNicholas · 08/05/2019 10:58

I actually quite like it, just how it looks... So makes me think of foxes, which I don't dislike. But, it could sound a bit like "fucks"

3timeslucky · 08/05/2019 11:07

No. A lifetime of being asked what his real name is. Why would you do that to him? ;-)

chickenalapesh · 08/05/2019 11:28

I don't actually think people are that rude in real life though...you tell them your name and people don't really ever question you Confused

3timeslucky · 08/05/2019 11:31

I think they do when it comes forms and officialdom. I've a friend with a child whose name sounds like a nickname and he gets it ALL the time.

londonmarathonhalfwaypoint · 08/05/2019 11:37

Asa?
Ezra?
Ivo?

NannyPear · 08/05/2019 11:45

Well I don't want to be that OP that runs off and never updates the thread!

We've finally settled on a name and ... It's Leo!

Fox just didn't make the cut. Still love it though ;)

@NannyPear aww LOVE Leo! Such a beautiful name. Congratulations!

That was our second favourite name so we definitely do have the same name taste haha.

Bumblebeesmum · 08/05/2019 12:30

Congratulations & it doesn’t matter as I’m a random nobody off the internet but I love Leo - best name ever !

Sagradafamiliar · 08/05/2019 12:41

Why be a fox when you can be a lion? Excellent choice OP!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/05/2019 12:42

Ah that’s great OP

JenSFP · 08/05/2019 12:46

Fab name! Good, solid name. Goes well with Eli. I know a young adult Leo and he's a wonderful young man.

Congratulations on your new addition Flowers

Athousandstars04 · 08/05/2019 14:55

There's a Fox at a toddler group I go to but his parents are very hipster/boho type people and it suits them but I personally wouldn't choose it if that's not your "style". Also have to think how it will be when they're an adult

RickOShay · 08/05/2019 17:41

Leo is a great name Smile
Many congratulations!

Tobebythesea · 08/05/2019 22:34

Just no. There was a child called Fox at Forest School and I kept looking around for a red creature. It’s ripe for bullying - sorry.

Tobebythesea · 08/05/2019 22:35

Congratulations on Leo Flowers
