Baby boy due today and still don't have a name decided. Don't even have a shortlist to "see what he looks like". Came across this name last night and I kinda love it but don't know if I'm having a moment of madness because I don't love anything else and I'm climbing the walls waiting for him to arrive.

What are your thoughts?? Have a toddler called Eli, if that helps.

No

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 05/05/2019 02:25

God no.

If you fancy something leftfield call him Job or Cain or Jebediah.

Not something verminy.

Jammiebammie · 05/05/2019 02:28

Im surprised but I really like it! And I think it goes with Eli (one of my favourite boy names).
I think Kit really goes too as pp has suggested, although I think that’s rising in popularity. What about Nate?

bridgetreilly · 05/05/2019 02:51

Foxy!

So, that's a no from me.

Topseyt · 05/05/2019 03:41

Like Foxy Loxy in the Chicken Licken books.

No. Sorry. But I am more traditional in my taste in names.

Ipanema01 · 05/05/2019 03:42

I love it and DS2 was very nearly Fox, we went with Milo Fox in the end (I got slated on here asking about Fox, but I find all the George/Jack/James type names so dull Wink

I do think if you love something go for it, I suppose you have to be sure with a name like Fox! It goes well with Eli I think.
In case we have similar taste, I also have a Rafe and I currently have a 4 day old I’m trying to name from the following list

Otis
Casper
Rudy
Scout
Atticus
Atlas

Boys names are so hard - good luck!

Aquamarine1029 · 05/05/2019 04:58

I love it. If you love it don't worry about what other people think.

RubberTreePlant · 05/05/2019 05:33

Names to go with Eli?

Seth
Caleb
Jude
Cole

olderthanyouthink · 05/05/2019 05:41

I was in a very instagram-y indie baby shop a couple weeks ago and overheard the lady working there saying that people were buying a lot of fox themed things because a lot of babies being called that atm.

This is white middle class SE London. You might not be alone in liking the name but it might be weirdly common depending on where you are.

Theoldwoman · 05/05/2019 05:54

I know an Ayrton Fox.

I'm not sure about Fox as a first name.

NotSoThinLizzy · 05/05/2019 06:05

All I think of is that annoying song what does the fox say? But if you love it then no one can tell you otherwise. Its definitely different.

WellErrr · 05/05/2019 06:37

I don't need a rare or unusual name, but don't want a popular-for-2019 name.

Caspar.

It’s also biblical (one of the wise men) but not obviously so. It shortens well and isn’t popular, but isn’t too weird.

Bumblebeesmum · 05/05/2019 11:38

Fox News Hmm - does make me think you’re a Trump fan

Bumblebeesmum · 05/05/2019 11:39

Or Caspian ?

EdWinchester · 05/05/2019 11:40

No. Pretentious.

Bumblebeesmum · 05/05/2019 11:40

What about Felix ? Similar feel & could even use the nn Fox ?

Sakura7 · 05/05/2019 11:41

No, no, no. Poor kid will get bullied, and won't get taken seriously when he grows up.

Yogagirl123 · 05/05/2019 11:42

Sorry, I don’t like it. Not heard of anyone called Fox.

acomingin · 05/05/2019 11:43

God no. Poor kid.

Connieston · 05/05/2019 11:43

I think it's nice.

WipeYourFeetOnTheRhythmRug · 05/05/2019 11:50

I like it.

Does it really need to “match” Eli? Unless they become a pop duo it doesn’t really matter.

chickenninja · 05/05/2019 11:55

I think YouTuber Sarah's day has just called her baby Fox.
I doubt she's hugely influential but it is a name on the rise.

Viebienremplie · 05/05/2019 12:02

Things I think of when I hear this name:

Horrible ignorant Trump-supporting news propaganda channel

Foxy, he's a fox etc. Just no

Animal that leaves nasty stinky shots around that my dog likes to roll in

I like the pp suggestion of Kit

pinkhousesarebest · 05/05/2019 12:03

Why would you do this to your child? In ten years( or less) you will be so mortified.

Fairenuff · 05/05/2019 12:07

What about Badger?
