Maxen / Macsen

My partner and I were coming round to the idea of Maximus but thought a little too strong for our taste.

Anybody have any thoughts on Maxen or Macsen please?

I’m not sure that is a real name. Are you sure you didn’t mean Maxim?

Maxim? I’ve known a couple of littles Maxim’s and thought it cute but will also do well for an adult.

Online searches suggest its a welsh name, possibly a welsh variant of Maximus.

Are you Welsh or have Welsh roots?

Not keen, but the spelling Maxen is much better.

I’ve never heard it before, either spelling. But I’m afraid it leaves me a bit cold (ditto Maxim - not sure that’s a name either!)

I prefer Macsen. It’s a Welsh name.

I much prefer Maxim/Maxime though.

It’s a Welsh name and lovely in my opinion. Be aware you may get some of the reactions you’ve had here though if you don’t live in Wales!

I like it but it is very Welsh. I would go for the Welsh spelling with the "cs" (like Wrecsam) if you do go for it.

If you don't have Welsh roots at all then Max is fine.

Maxen is a bit odd. Macsen is a Welsh name - I wouldn't use it if you are not welsh.
Maximus is a bit gluteus.

I know a baby Macsen, it was new to me when he was born but I like it now.

Why not just Max on its own?

Macsen is a legitimate Welsh name so not sure what some people are talking about! I love Macsen. It’s lovely with the nickname Mac too!

I'd not heard of it before. I don't like it, sorry. I wouldn't use it if you're not living in Wales.
