😊

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JenniferJareau · 22/04/2019 16:29

I'd think herb, not a name tbh.

Missingthesea · 22/04/2019 16:30

I think it's really pretty.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 22/04/2019 16:30

i think its lovely. it reminds me of sun Smile

for middle names you could try:

Alina
Thea
Cara
Karina
Brooke

al; the best x

Prequelle · 22/04/2019 16:30

It reminds me of a fruit loaf

Shadowboy · 22/04/2019 16:31

I like it. But my children have ‘natural’ names. It reminds me of Roman, Willow type names. I like.

pinkgloves · 22/04/2019 16:31

Its the name of a shoe brand in the States. Good shoes though.

BillywigSting · 22/04/2019 16:32

It's a food not a name

Then I suppose if basil and rosemary are OK then sorrel is too if you like it

Shockedandsickened · 22/04/2019 16:33

It's nice.

Bayleyf · 22/04/2019 16:35

I know a lovely mid 30s Sorrel. I've always thought it was a great name.

BackseatKnitter · 22/04/2019 16:36

I think it’s very pretty, don’t think it necessarily needs a middle name either.

Connieston · 22/04/2019 16:36

It's great. Like Rowan, Hazel and Willow. Nature names are lovely!

Expressedways · 22/04/2019 16:37

Just no. I just packed away my Sorrel snow boots for spring and I could not be more glad to see the back of them! They’re not just popular a popular brand in the states- there’s a store in Val d’Isere (French ski resort) and Kate Middleton has a pair.

BuckingFrolics · 22/04/2019 16:39

I think it's also a horse colour.

But it's a lovely name!

ltk · 22/04/2019 16:40

I don't like eating sorrel - it's a bitter, sour taste- so it puts me off the name. I really like Rosemary as a name, and natural names in general. Explore flowers and trees perhaps? Or River, Rain, Skye, etc? Or sweeter herbs?

dreichuplands · 22/04/2019 16:40

I knew a horse with that name but it isn't unpleasant.

Crocodilesoup · 22/04/2019 16:42

There’s a sorrel in a Noel Coward play. And a children’s novel - Ballet Shoes? Lovely.

TildaTurnip · 22/04/2019 16:43

I cannot say ‘r’ sounds easily so this would be Sowwel for me.

Aside from that, if it gets shortened, it’s not nice.

SilverGoldBronze · 22/04/2019 16:43

I love it! I wanted to call DD1 Sorrel but (ex)DH vetoed it. Still wish I’d argued harder TBH!

GabrielleNelson · 22/04/2019 16:44

Sorrel is a lovely name. It reminds me of Curtain Up by Noel Streatfield. I like names from flowers and other plants. Hazel, Rowan, May, Rose, Lily, Rosemary, Viola, Violet, Tansy, Daisy, Marguerite - all lovely.

Re associations with shoe brand, which is SOREL, not Sorrel - I just can't see this as an issue at all. I wouldn't make the connection.

BelulahBlanca · 22/04/2019 16:45

I used to work with a really snooty one who talked to me like I was something she wiped off her shoe, so a no from me.

EgremontRusset · 22/04/2019 16:45

Gorgeous. But careful of pronunciation in your area. Round here it would be Sorruw.

BlueMerchant · 22/04/2019 16:47

Don't like it. Malt loaf n plant.

AdelaideK · 22/04/2019 16:48

I like it.

10PercentMoreBanana · 22/04/2019 16:48

Lots of names are also attached to products - don't let that put you off.

Sorrell is lovely. You might also like:

Saffron
Clove(r)
Anise
Juniper
Melissa
Nigella
Olida

...all herbs or spices.

SleepWarrior · 22/04/2019 16:49

It's sort of pretty, but I think it also has a sad, melancholy air to it that would rule it out for me.
