Pigs or Weasley

dreichuplands · 16/04/2019 00:53

If I had another girl she would be Persephone, nn Percy. But dd is quite relieved she hasn't got the name.

LittleDoritt · 16/04/2019 00:59

I think it's awful but it takes all sorts. 🙂

notangelinajolie · 16/04/2019 01:15

DH had a friend called Percy but it was his nickname. His surname was Percival. He didn't like it much for all the above reasons. Please don't give a baby this name.

dolphin50 · 16/04/2019 03:49

percy jackson is a hero

OutOntheTilez · 16/04/2019 04:24

Percy was Robert Plant's nickname.

sevenyears · 16/04/2019 04:29

Percy pecker = penis

Alicewond · 16/04/2019 04:29

Percy is lovely for a cat, not a child though

GiantPretzel · 16/04/2019 05:06

The one I know, who is 12 or so, rocks, and has made the name cool for me.

smallereveryday · 16/04/2019 05:23

Are you about to give birth to a medieval knight. ?

IHeartKingThistle · 16/04/2019 05:31

Percy Jackson is cool and really popular with kids. I like it.

user1457017537 · 16/04/2019 05:35

Why, just why?

SaltSpoon · 16/04/2019 05:39

No.

roratone · 16/04/2019 05:58

Percy Pecker = penis.

ThisIsTheEndgame · 16/04/2019 06:02

There can't be that many parents of toddlers and preschoolers here, because hardly anyone has said the train. I keep tripping over toy Percys. "I'm the number six green engine! Choochoo!"

Peachbubble · 16/04/2019 06:06

I quite like it

JenniferJareau · 16/04/2019 06:09

Percy from Harry Potter.

stellarfox · 16/04/2019 06:47

@Lelly0503 The porcelain thing I do not think children are likely to know about. Sounds like an old fashioned saying! It’s funny how some people feel so strongly about this name but some quite like it! We also really like Eric which you might like too (but it might get a similar reception to Percy 😅)

I like it! I would worry slightly about bullying so maybe it would depend what kind of area you live in as to whether it would stand out.

wineandcheeseplease · 16/04/2019 07:50

I love it

Flamingosnbears · 16/04/2019 07:50

Percy is great unfortunately the link to the pig is rather annoying never heard of it as a slang term.

Erksum · 16/04/2019 10:15

I'm not a fan. I'm not as fussed about the associations but to the fact it sounds a bit weak and try hard.

What's your surname like?

Pemba · 16/04/2019 12:44

No, surely you are joking? One of the ultimate wussy names, like Algernon and Cecil, brings up an image of a spoilt Victorian little boy in velvet knickerbockers and lacey collar. M&S Percy Pig sweets too.

Not completely sold on Eric, but it is so much better than Percy.

Pompello · 16/04/2019 12:49

Eric is SO much better than Percy, although even better if spelt Erik. Rugged Viking vibes. Choose you son's eternal gratitude, choose Erik!

YesimstillwatchingNetflix · 16/04/2019 13:25

Oh I like it Blush I can't believe how strong the reactions are!
