I've been trying to upload a photo of our gorgeous 17hr old dd and have failed miserably. We had chosen the name Dinah and I'd stupidly thought she'd look like my other 2 even though she's got a different dad. First thing dh said to me after she was born was that she certainly doesnt look like a Dinah and I agree. Nothing seems to suit her. Dh has started calling her Beryl...please suggest something else before it sticks! My other DC are Joseph and Susannah. Thank you.

Apparently the term "marmalade" is a translation of the Portuguese marmelada that originated from the word marmelo (English: quince)

Perhaps Quincey/Quincy might be a bit far out there.
I had a quick look at Portuguese girls names & names that made me think red/orange/gold are:
Beatriz/Beatrix
Mariana
Ines
Leonor
Magdalena/Madeleine
Ana/Anna (Anne of Green Gables)

I also thought of Twila (pronounced as twy-la) which means third.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 10/04/2019 23:37

Oops forgot to add Margarita.

NeverSayFreelance · 11/04/2019 00:02

When I read "Dinah" my brain immediately went to Laurel - because of Dinah Laurel Lance from ArrowGrin but I also think it's a pretty name!

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/04/2019 00:02

Marnie

Like the suggestion of Lucy a lot with Susannah and Joseph.

DD didn't look like a Charlotte. So we called her something else.

polarpig · 11/04/2019 03:04

Pippa, Anne nn Annie, Marnie or....Orangina!

Poppins2016 · 11/04/2019 03:42

Beware of the marmalade theme due to the hair... I was born ginger (a strong strawberry blonde, really) and then lost it all, becoming very white blonde... my hair colour then settled at dark blonde.

But as you asked (I'm afraid I've gone for the obvious):

Scarlet
Clementine
Amber
Ember

Poppins2016 · 11/04/2019 03:49

Other names that spring to mind and (I think!) go with Susannah and Joseph:

Mary
Rachael
Rebecca
Sarah
Elizabeth
Abigail
Phoebe
Tabitha
Martha

sashh · 11/04/2019 05:47

I think Beryl would be cute.

Chivers? Golden Shred?

Elizabeth is nice, classic and quite a long name like your other children and Elizabeth I was famously red haired.

Safron? Poppy?

Or go the other way and call her 'Blue' or Sapphire.

A friend of mine called her baby Matthew, with 'matchstick' as a nickname, when he was 6 months his blond hair fellout nad regrew as red. Never has a nickname been more apt.

GimmeBread · 11/04/2019 06:00

Congratulations on your baby - she sounds adorable! I love a pudgy baby! ❤️

I've got to say I don't like Dinah as a middle name - all I can think of is American Diner (sorry!)

But what about your username Tilly? As first name?

GimmeBread · 11/04/2019 06:02

This is Cadet Tilly from Star Trek Discovery. She's a gorgeous redhead and I love her!

Please OP come back and tell us what you have decided - lots of good suggestions on here.

Antonin · 11/04/2019 14:40

My daughter was also born with golden hair. (Redshirt runs in the family) but was blonde by 18 months.
Just give her the prettiest name you both like and forget her colouring which well might change. Most of us have preconceived ideas about what our baby will look like and very seldom are we correct unless we or our partners have very strong genes that dominate and produce carbon copy babies.
Tell your rellies you have decided to wait 4 weeks to decide what she will be called and no discussion with them will be entered into.
At home everyone can choose a name for a day to see if it feels like the right one.
Enjoy your treasure

Tillygetsit · 11/04/2019 15:20

Thank you all so very much! I LOVE Marigold but dh really doesnt! I also suggested Marjorie but ds said "Margarine?!!" In a very shocked voice. Chilvers is interesting lol. Dd(4) said Lulu but as all her dolls are Lulu it could get very confusing. She really is beautiful and deserves a beautiful name. We tend to like biblical and/or Victorian names and sadly Lucy is out. Its fils dog!

regularbutpanickingabit · 11/04/2019 17:33

Ha! The redheads I know seem to also have biblical or Victorianish names. So why about:
Esther
Rebecca
Rachel
Verity
Francesca

megletthesecond · 11/04/2019 17:34
