hi everyone I made a thread yesterday on short and sweet girl names.
We loved the suggestion of Elsie, so out finalist is now Elsie Belle. What does everyone think of that?
the only thing is I strongly dislike the name Elsa for some reason and I don’t want it to be mistaken for that or it to be too similar? Help me please ladies!! x

I assume Else as in "what else?"

PineapplePatty · 29/03/2019 10:21

Yep Else.

Like Or else.

GreatDuckCookery · 29/03/2019 13:50

Elsie is dire. Belle is ok.

Tiramisu1 · 29/03/2019 13:52

But Belle is an adjective meaning pretty (in French), it doesn't sound like s name to my ears.

GreatDuckCookery · 29/03/2019 13:53

Short for Isabelle.

BlueMerchant · 29/03/2019 13:57

Don't like them together.

InsertFunnyUsername · 29/03/2019 14:04

Its fine.

Probably is a bit cutesy, but nothing too offensive!

Swiminthesea23 · 29/03/2019 14:54

Sorry just terrible.

JimJamJarmusch · 29/03/2019 15:12

Sorry, I'm with the majority here. Elsie is okay, Belle is lovely - Elsie Belle sounds like something out of a whimsical Victorian nursery rhymes.

Thequeenspug · 29/03/2019 15:17

Sorry I’ve never been a fan of Elsie. Sounds too nicknamey.
Belle is ok, but a little Disney.

Elizabeth Isabelle is better
With Elsie Belle as a nickname.

AfterSchoolWorry · 29/03/2019 15:19

Everyone's gonna call her Elsie Belsie.

Flamingosnbears · 29/03/2019 15:36

Sounds a bit babyish you have to think of when they're grown as well with that in mind Elsa Belle is fine then at home she can be your Elsie Belle it will give her more choice when she's older.

DarlingLittleBabyName · 29/03/2019 16:07

Hi everyone thank you for the replies. A lot of you voiced my concerns that the name was too babyish so my DH has now agreed to my fav name who he earlier had said no to (men, right?) and she is now Maggie Rose x

Maggie Rose is lovely! Much better than Elsie Belle.

SweetAsSpice · 29/03/2019 22:19

Yes, Maggie Rose! Rocks.

Sophronia · 30/03/2019 00:06

Maggie Rose is better.

Fridasrage · 30/03/2019 00:14

I love Elsie alone, I really do. I don’t think it needs to ‘stand’ for anything - it’s lovely alone. It’s also the name of Elsie Ingles who was a truly amazing person.

But ‘Elsie Belle’ sounds a bit ridiculous imo. Like a vacuous girl character on a terrible kids cartoon.

Sorry for being blunt.

Fridasrage · 30/03/2019 00:14

Sorry I’m clearly behind here. Maggie rose is lovely 😀
