hi everyone I made a thread yesterday on short and sweet girl names.
We loved the suggestion of Elsie, so out finalist is now Elsie Belle. What does everyone think of that?
the only thing is I strongly dislike the name Elsa for some reason and I don’t want it to be mistaken for that or it to be too similar? Help me please ladies!! x

I thought of Hells Bells too...

DramaAlpaca · 29/03/2019 00:34

And me...

It's a cloyingly twee combination, not my style at all.

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 29/03/2019 02:57

I really like both names but don't particularly like them together. Though I can't really explain why.

MrPickles73 · 29/03/2019 03:24

It's too wet.. fine for a baby but one day she'll be in her 40s...

LavenderFairyrunswild · 29/03/2019 03:35

I went to school with an Elsa Belle. Her name really stood out .

MercyBodle · 29/03/2019 03:43

Elsie is lovely but not Belle and not together, sorry.

How about -
Elsie Blythe
Elsie Margot
Elsie Violet
Elsie Jane
Elsie Faith

OutAndAbouter · 29/03/2019 03:43

Elsie - yes

Elsie Belle - no, sounds like a steam train on a heritage line 😬

IdblowJonSnow · 29/03/2019 04:29

I don't like either name or the combination of them.
Sorry! But you did ask.
Personally I wouldn't ask others opinions on a name. If you like it that's the main thing.

MountainPeakGeek · 29/03/2019 04:45

Elsie is a good name, but "Elsie Belle" is dire...sorry.

EnormousDormouse · 29/03/2019 05:01

Elle s'appelle

littlecabbage · 29/03/2019 05:06

Agree that Elsie is nice, but combined with Belle is very twee. And any hyphenating of Elsie with another name is rather horrid.

Tiramisu1 · 29/03/2019 06:56

Sorry, but it's too twee and lacks character or elegance. I really dislike it!

Tiramisu1 · 29/03/2019 06:57

Would indeed work well for a tiny poodle Grin.

Madmarchpear · 29/03/2019 06:59

Not for me. It's a bit lily-mae.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/03/2019 07:00

Elsie Belle as her day to day name will only work if she's a Tiny Tears doll.

Or a WWII bomber.

MairzyDoats · 29/03/2019 07:01

Elsie is a lovely name, agree with PP who suggested Elsie Annabelle though. You can keep Elsie Belle as a family nickname?

poseybobblehat · 29/03/2019 07:01

Sounds like a Blackpool tram, all aboard the Elsie Belle

happytobemrsg · 29/03/2019 07:01

Love Elsie, not too keen on it being paired with Belle. Too cutesy

Alienspaceship · 29/03/2019 07:01

If I’m honest, the first thing I thought of was that it sounds like a boat.

Sophronia · 29/03/2019 07:12

It does sound like the name of a boat Grin

emilybrontescorsett · 29/03/2019 07:14

I'm not keen.
I'm of the generation where I think of Elsie Tanner from Corra.

ItWentInMyEye · 29/03/2019 07:19

Elsie is ok if that's what you've chosen, but not with Belle. Is belle from beauty & the beast?

missmouse101 · 29/03/2019 07:25

I do think Elsie is just awful, like Gladys or Doris. You so rarely say first and middle names together though, so if you like them go ahead.

PineapplePatty · 29/03/2019 07:30

She'll be nn Else at school most likely. That's what the children call the one at my school.

Tiramisu1 · 29/03/2019 07:58

Is that Else as El-seh or El-see?
