Which would you prefer? Any any other suggestions? X

If you're after some more 'contemporary' names what about Hunter or (and I know this is made up, but it is from the Best Star Wars Film Ever, and sounds like a real name) Cassian?

It is fair to see that a lot of us will be old enough to be your mum and have very different tastes. And lots of MNers are very snobby about so-called American names/surnames as first names (even though this has been a thing in Scotland for donkey's years and what's the matter with America anyway??)

SemperIdem · 07/03/2019 10:19

Brady is a perfectly nice, normal name op. Not to my personal taste but there’s nothing wrong with it.

Cason isn’t great though, sorry.

Torin is contemporary sounding, if that’s the vibe you’re after?

SemperIdem · 07/03/2019 10:20

*Brody!

OwlBeThere · 07/03/2019 11:47

All names are made up at some point aren’t they?? Some of these replies are unnecessarily mean and harsh. Yes of course we all have different taste, but there are ways of saying how you feel that aren’t quite so cruel.
Also one of the Kasen’s I know is 25 and his name hasn’t stopped him enrolling in medical school. The snobbery is alive and well on MN.

SeaWitchly · 07/03/2019 12:01

Both are awful, sorry OP.

Nesssie · 07/03/2019 12:06

Brodie/Brody is fine, I know lots of boys and men called that.
Cason is unusual but not hideous. How about Cayden, Carson, Corey instead if you have been put off it.

Remember, everyone has different tastes! I much prefer your ideas to old fashioned ones like Rupert, Willfried etc

Nesssie · 07/03/2019 12:09

And the only meaning of the name Cason I could find after a google search was 'house', so I wouldn't worry about the meaning of it.

Bloomini · 07/03/2019 12:54

Sorry OP I think they're both horrendous, of all the names out there you could choose...

Brodie is marginally better than "Cason" which sounds made up despite what your book says. He'd be forever mistaken for a Jason, poor kid.

MollyHuaCha · 07/03/2019 13:09

No

sparklytwinklyfairylights · 07/03/2019 13:12

Brodie is popular up here in Scotland. Also Carson is used here but never heard of Cason before

Letthemysterybe · 07/03/2019 16:04

Brodie is a great name. But I can’t warm to Cason. What about:

Sawyer
Morgan
Fraser
Harrison

Ccec · 07/03/2019 18:25

Love Cason, it was my choice if I was having a boy although would have spelt it Caison. Not sure why people are saying it isn't a real name, it's obviously not an old classic but it's on many baby name lists which is how I came across it 🤔

Divgirl2 · 07/03/2019 22:04

Someone suggested Broderick! I haven't heard that name in ages - wonder if I can get DP to agree to it...Grin

Good luck OP, with whatever you choose. Here's some more suggestions for you to mull over:
Broderick (love it so much I'm giving you it again)
Dylan (Welsh, means sea god)
Trent (it's a river but I really like it as a boys name, and it's easy to spell)
Levi (Hebrew)
Leon (becoming more popular now but I love it)
Saul (I fought for this for my DS but it got vetoed)

And if you like surname names these will date less quickly I think...
Cameron
Fairfax
Grant
Harrison
Mitchell
Montgomery
Samson
Thatcher

flowersaremyfave · 07/03/2019 22:13

Love them both, but if I had to choose I'd probably go for Cason because it's different and I don't like your regular George, harry, Lucas, Alfie names.

flowersaremyfave · 07/03/2019 22:14

And op I don't really care about what the names mean either. I've never looked up what my children's names mean 😬 it wouldn't cross my mind too x

mumm321 · 08/03/2019 00:49

Thank u for all the reply's again. @flowersaremyfave. I think maybe it's because im so young. I never even thought about the meanings until someone above had mentioned it.😮 x
