Dear all,

I wonder if you could help me decide a name for dd2.

Our first dd is Isabella (as you can tell I don’t care about popularity of names!)

I would like another classic name to match.

I have always had a soft spot for Camilla. I feel that it’s so elegant...but my husband feels that it’s a bit “posh old lady”.

My husband on the other hand prefers general classics such as Anna or Sarah. I completely vetoed Sarah because it’s been incredibly overdone.

But Anna I feel is so plain and dull.

Who’s in the right?

Camilla or Anna?

Many thanks

Also please no advice about picking Camille instead-as I can’t help but picture a camel!

And I also don’t mind both girls names ending with the letter “a”!

Thank you everyone

Grace is my daughter’s middle name!

Any parents of a “Camilla” are they bullied etc at school due to the Duchess connection?

No, never. Primary school children won't have heard of Camilla the Duchess and she barely registers even amongst older pupils. My DC, in their late teens, aren't particularly aware of Charles or Camilla, and nor do they care.

I prefer Anna to Camilla

Phillipa
Clarissa

Hellohappiness · 22/02/2019 14:50

I love Camilla and have never known one.

Hellohappiness · 22/02/2019 14:51

Is Camilla and Isabella together a bit of a mouthful?

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 22/02/2019 15:00

Seraphina?

I like Camilla but don't like Milly, which I imagine is an obvious nn.

Badgerama · 22/02/2019 15:05

Zoë
Eleanor
Sylvia
Connie

Crunchymum · 22/02/2019 15:10

It's clear you are very set on Camilla, OP?

So go and work on your DH Grin

DrCatherine · 22/02/2019 15:17

Haha it seems that I am!

In all honesty I don’t think I mind Anna that much...

I think both my husband and I would compromise to either Camilla or Anna...it’s now more of a question of which one to pick....

I love a lot of suggestions here, especially Sophia!! But unfortunately both myself and my husband have large families...think parents remarrying on either side, so lots of step and half brothers/sisters with added step mothers/father’s and even more nieces and nephews! And thinking about it, all of them have classic names! So just a few names leftover I’m afraid!

Isn't Anna everywhere after Frozen?

Horseshoe1 · 22/02/2019 17:25

Names that spring to mind are:
Lydia
Beatrice
Amelia
Emilia
Aurelia
Clara
Cordelia
Victoria
Louisa

stellarfox · 22/02/2019 17:42

I like Camilla as she can be Milly/Millie but Anna is nice too

Cosmoa · 22/02/2019 18:40

I agree that Camilla and Isabella are too much together

Cosmoa · 22/02/2019 18:40

Plus I cannot bare Camilla PB

NetflixAndDill · 22/02/2019 18:48

I think Camilla is really lovely

DrCatherine · 23/02/2019 05:48

Thanks so much everyone!
Still undecided at the moment as appears to be an even split between Anna and Camilla.

More votes please!

I really like Camilla. I think Olivia and Isabella are really nice together.

PFB2 · 23/02/2019 06:39

I've already voted for Camilla, but thought I'd add this: my brother went to school with a girl called Camilla. She was a lovely, gorgeous, kind & popular girl. I never once heard of her being teased about her name. I heard people commenting on how lovely it was though. I also don't know what insults people could have possibly given??? "You have the same name as the Duchess of Cornwall" is hardly offensive. And anyway, everyone shares their name with someone. Almost everyone has a famous namesake out there.

FWIW, i wanted to use the name Camilla but my DSIS announced that was the name she wanted to use if she has a DD. I think it's beautiful.

UrsulaPandress · 23/02/2019 06:41

Rosalind is a beautiful name.

FutureMrsTempah · 23/02/2019 06:46

Camilla was on my shortlist. Only adults will associate with the duchess and once it's your little ones name people close to you will think of her first if you choose that name. Interestingly the name we actually went with has been suggested on this thread too. My little was named after a scientist

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 23/02/2019 08:29

Isabella is beautiful, I would put Sophia, Valentina, Amber, Seraphina, Clementine, Charlotte with it.

LarkDescending · 23/02/2019 08:55

Camilla is brilliant with Isabella. Why look further?

Also, Anna is not dull. She is international, cosmopolitan, timeless and cool, OK Grin

OrangeTin · 23/02/2019 09:09

Carlotta?
I think Isabella and Carlotta sound good together.

Whoops75 · 23/02/2019 09:26

No need to rule Grace out because it’s dds middle name.

Anna is my favorite
If Isabella uses a nn they could be Izzy and Anna.
