Dear all,

I wonder if you could help me decide a name for dd2.

Our first dd is Isabella (as you can tell I don’t care about popularity of names!)

I would like another classic name to match.

I have always had a soft spot for Camilla. I feel that it’s so elegant...but my husband feels that it’s a bit “posh old lady”.

My husband on the other hand prefers general classics such as Anna or Sarah. I completely vetoed Sarah because it’s been incredibly overdone.

But Anna I feel is so plain and dull.

Who’s in the right?

Camilla or Anna?

Many thanks

Also please no advice about picking Camille instead-as I can’t help but picture a camel!

And I also don’t mind both girls names ending with the letter “a”!

Lorna ?

daisypond · 22/02/2019 12:29

Is Sophia any good? Similar feel to Isabella but also simple and classic. I still like Camilla, though. Marianne? Rosamund? Rosemary? Maria?

DrCatherine · 22/02/2019 12:34

I agree Sophia is gorgeous has a very similar feel to Isabella. But unfortunately husband’s niece is Sophia and my very close cousin is a Sophie. So again...unfortunately all taken.

I’m looking for something like Sophia/Isabella etc. Hence I thought perhaps Camilla?

Husband is more on the lines of Anna/sarah/Lana doesn’t mind Lara...

mrsk28 · 22/02/2019 12:43

Olivia is lovely if you don't have family members with the name.

Ribbonsonabox · 22/02/2019 12:45

Georgia, Georgina, Georgianna
Jemima
Felicity
Beatrix
Mariella

daisypond · 22/02/2019 12:55

Clarissa, Larissa (Lara), Helena and Beatrice are all good. Diana is great as well. Frances? Susanna(h)? Caroline?

Barbarafromblackpool · 22/02/2019 13:01

Camilla.

Minglemangle · 22/02/2019 13:05

If you like Sarah and Lara what about Zara?

PFB2 · 22/02/2019 13:06

Another vote for Georgia. I have one so I am biased but I love the name. It feels so timeless and suited to a baby and adult equally well. I also feel like it suits all personalities and has lovely options for nick names ☺️

BlueChampagne · 22/02/2019 13:27

Caroline

DrCatherine · 22/02/2019 13:43

Thanks for the suggestions I’ll put some forward to the dh!

Is Camilla and Anna a general no though?

PFB2 · 22/02/2019 13:46

I do love Camilla but prefer Annie to Anna.

mrsk28 · 22/02/2019 13:47

They aren't bad names but think there is better options.

Good luck, names are so hard!

daisypond · 22/02/2019 13:49

Camilla and Anna are both great, in my opinion. I'd go for Camilla out of the two.

Sauvignonblanket · 22/02/2019 13:52

For what it's worth I love Camilla, prefer it over Anna and wouldn't mind the Duchess of Cornwall connection...but two names ending lla would be too matchy for me.

How about a classic beautiful name that has a simpler shortening your DH could use full time.

Also, how about Matilda or Rosalind?

BlueMerchant · 22/02/2019 13:52

Camilla is nice but I prefer Anna. I think it's classic and elegant. I also like Louisa.

SleepWarrior · 22/02/2019 13:54

I quite like Camilla but I do think everybody will instantly think of the duchess of Cornwall. May not be relevant by the time she's grown up but could be a source of teasing though school.

What about
Grace
Cordelia
Georgina
Louisa
Harriet
Delilah
Clarabel

SnowWhite33 · 22/02/2019 13:55

Love Camilla!

Im always surprised when ppl refer to Duchess of Cornwall tbh.
There are plenty of posts mentioning Elizabeth, Harry or William as potential name for their baby and nobody refers to the royals.
Im not British but to me Camilla is a beautiful and timeless name that is also used in many other countries.

Luckingfovely · 22/02/2019 13:56

Camilla yes, Anna no for me.

Lana is just awful imo.

Grace seems to fit your bill.

Or Lexi, but this might scare your DH.
