Aria or Charlotte

What do you think of Aria? Too faddy/trendy? Will it suit an adult? Is it becoming too common? Do you think of Game of Thrones? I’ve nevr watched it but OH thinks people will assume it’s from that?

What about Charlotte? Too boring/traditional? Do you know many baby Charlottes? She would not be Lottie as we have a Lottie in extended family who is just Lottie tho.

Middle names Aria Elizabeth or Charlotte Amanda.

Thanks!

Aria's a name that has become quite popular almost overnight. It will almost certainly date badly.
Charlotte is a name that has been around for centuries and is used by the royal family.
Charlotte Amanda is beautiful. Most of the Charlottes I know get called Charl (Sharl) but I know a Charlie and a Lottie too.

Beelzebop · 04/01/2019 16:32

Watch out! Both names are beautiful, but there are Arya's and Aria's popping up all over the place here.

Cbeebiesrehab · 04/01/2019 16:36

Very different styles.
Aria is faddy whereas Charlotte is timeless!

Emelene · 04/01/2019 16:40

Charlotte is gorgeous and timeless! Aria has a pretty sound but I think it is very "trendy"...

Jaz32 · 04/01/2019 16:52

So you all prefer Charlotte? I also love Elizabeth but OH will not allow it as a first name 😢 and I don’t want Charlotte Elizabeth due to the princess!

Aria, I think GoT.
Charlotte is lovely, maybe Charlotte Isabella which seems quite similar to Elizabeth to me? (Bella, Beth)

Jaz32 · 04/01/2019 17:59

Am not a fan of Isabel/a and Amanda is my mums name so would want to use that but it doesn’t go with aria anyway lol.
I know Charlotte is the sensible option but I can’t get Aria out of my head for some reason?!

Aria is a fad imo. Charlotte will have peaks of extreme popularity but will never date, I don't think.

GinUnicorn · 04/01/2019 18:39

I think Aria is beautiful personally.

GrandmaSharksDentures · 04/01/2019 18:52

One of my friends has named her daughter Aria as she wanted a unique & powerful name that no one else would have. She's not impressed how popular it has become...!

Raera · 04/01/2019 18:55

Charlotte Eleanor?

LynetteScavo · 04/01/2019 18:57

I love the name Aria, and have done for 10 yearsDH loves Charlotte....DD is called neither but would be if we'd had our own way. If we had another DD I grew to Charlotte but call her Lottie.

Probably not helpful at all.

PerverseConverse · 04/01/2019 18:58

Aria is very council estate here, pronounced with a Gallagher brothers hard "oh" at the end. It's chavtastic.

Charlotte is beautiful and classy.

Elizabeth is a classic too.

I love "proper" names though,

MapMyMum · 04/01/2019 19:05

I didnt watch GoT but aria makes me think of a song and seems a bit pretentious tbh, its a pretty sounding word but its not a name afaic

midsomermurderess · 04/01/2019 19:29

I associate Aria with Pretty Little Liars.

greendale17 · 04/01/2019 19:29

Aria

Feeebeee · 04/01/2019 19:45

Aria is very of the now and will date awfully imo. Charlotte nn Lottie is very nice. I love Elizabeth but if your DH doesn’t like it Sad

mammmamia · 04/01/2019 19:47

Charlotte is so so boring, I’d go with Aria. It’s much prettier.

Jaz32 · 04/01/2019 20:08

Exactly what my mum said about it dating... what names would you compare it to that have dated awfully just to give me an idea lol.

Lynettescavo what did you call your dd?

Sorry I don’t know how to quote/reply to specific posts as I’m new!!

Definitely Charlotte but if you're really keen on Aria put that in the middle?

IncomingCannonFire · 04/01/2019 20:16

I like both.
But with Charlotte, you will find annoying comments that you named her after the princess.
Aria is lovely, but very now.
Just choose a name you and the father would like to use forever more.

Peachbubble · 04/01/2019 20:17

I'd choose Charlotte

lazymare · 04/01/2019 20:18

Has anyone said Charia yet 😂 Best of both worlds.
