Can you help me find a Scottish name that I like?

DH is Scottish (I am not) and we live in Scotland. I chose DD's name (had my heart set on it) and didn't really let DH have an input, however I promised DH if we ever had a son, he could chose the name. We found out we are indeed having a son and now DH is thinking of names. I need help to find Scottish boys names I actually like. Names that aren't to my personal taste are:

Angus
Douglas
Fergus
Seamus
Duncan
Ian
Alastair

And names such as that. I am definitely open to Gaelic names, DH is adamant he wants a Scottish name which is fine by me. There's lots of girls names that I like but I can't think of many boys names! I suggested Jamie but he doesn't like it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

TheMagician · 02/12/2018 10:18

What about Nollaig with Noah for a nick name.

Now excuse my ignorance of Scottish gaelic, I have listened to BBC scotland and concluded that the two gaelics are very similar so I'm presuming Nollaig is Christmas in Scottish as well.

Timeandtune · 02/12/2018 10:19

How about Murdo, or Keir or Somhairle ( pronounced Sorley)?

Molakai · 02/12/2018 10:19

Ewan/Ewen/Euan is a fab name

orkneyfudge · 02/12/2018 10:19

@starfishmummy, I really like Donald, until The Trump. It was on my list for my DC2. So glad now that I didn't use it. Although he could have become Donal interchangeably

It’s difficult, when you hear names every day, you forget which are Scottish origin and which are just ‘names you’re hearing in Scotland’
