Thoughts please on these names for a girl?

I love Cicely!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 21/11/2018 21:44

I like Ianthe and Cicely. Not bothered about Paloma as it feels fussy to me and don't like the connotations of the biblical Salome for a daughter.

Shadow1234 · 21/11/2018 21:44

If I had to choose, I would go for Paloma.
Have you considered Pandora?

Messalena · 21/11/2018 21:52

I quite like Pandora, thanks! Panda could be quite sweet for short too.

Love Apolline. Like Paloma.

ratherbeshowjumping · 21/11/2018 22:10

Love Cicely. Again would be very put off by the biblical connotations of Salome.
I also love pps suggestion of Pandora

Hungrypuffin · 21/11/2018 22:13

I don’t know about Pandora. I can see potential for unsavoury jokes about her box when she’s an adult.

Sophronia · 21/11/2018 23:52

I love Apolline! I also like Apollonia.

MarysInTheDyson · 21/11/2018 23:54

Apolline is my favourite

Pemba · 22/11/2018 01:38

I like Paloma and Ianthe. Quite like Cicely although it does give me an image of a fussy and overly ladylike Victorian woman or girl.

Salome should be nice (ignoring the John the Baptist thing) but unfortunately it also reminds me of salami and salmonella.
Don't like Apolline at all, that's my least favourite. Apollo space missions come to mind.

Congratulations on your unusual choices, you obviously don't like to follow the herd.

SleepWarrior · 22/11/2018 01:44

I love ianthe (although Evanthe is even better imo!).

Paloma is probably my next fav, then Cicely and Salome joint next, and Apolline at the bottom as it makes me think 'Pauline'.

Choccywoccyhooha · 22/11/2018 01:56

I love them all. But as much as Salome is a beautiful name the head on a plate thing is an image I can't shake!

On similar lines, just for your interest, not because you need more choices how about
Athene
Solange
Isolde /Iseult

Jogs15 · 22/11/2018 01:57

My 3 month old daughter is called Cicely and we absolutely love the name. - and so does everyone else who asks what it is !

timeisnotaline · 22/11/2018 02:25

Apolline is very nice. I like cicely but I’m not sure how much. Salome the connections are just too strong. Ianthe I like, did you consider iolanthe?

RedDwarves · 22/11/2018 07:51

Salome is frankly unusable. It only has one connotation and it is very negative.

I like Paloma, although it does remind me of papilloma.

RavenWings · 22/11/2018 07:55

Really like Paloma.
Apolline = Pauline to me as a pp said.
Cicely is way too fussy and not sold on Ianthe or Salome.

I think Iseult is a bit pedestrian these days compared to your other names. Solange is lovely, though.

grufallosfriend · 22/11/2018 08:05

Love Cicely/Cecily and Paloma.

Polkasq · 22/11/2018 08:08

I like Ianthe and Paloma.

gummibears · 22/11/2018 08:11

Apolline and Cicely.

BeanBagLady · 22/11/2018 08:11

Not Salome.
Really not.

NonaGrey · 22/11/2018 08:13

Not Salome.

Kokeshi123 · 22/11/2018 08:25

Cicely and Paloma are the best.

MsNowtyBach · 22/11/2018 08:32

Didn't Salome cut off the head of John the Baptist and serve it on a plate?!

Cecile is gorgeous, not sure about Cicely.

LipstickTraces · 22/11/2018 09:15

Cicely is pretty. The others are a bit too try hard for my tastes.

RamonaQ · 22/11/2018 09:18

I like Apollonia, I knew one who went by Apple for short, and Polly.
I like Ianthe, but love Xanthe!
