I’ve loved this name for ages and has been at the top of my name list ( I was weird and had a baby names list before I was even ttc) for years but have noticed it being mentioned a lot around here so is it faddy all of a sudden? Also what are your general opinions on the name?

Not keen on the name at all, think it sounds really un-feminine, I don't understand its popularity! Sorry!

Auntieaunt · 27/10/2018 09:30

I always read it as maggot.

Im sorry cabana but it's a firm no from me.

Madeline88 · 27/10/2018 09:31

I love it and it is my daughters middle name. We wanted to honour a couple of different relatives that had different forms of Margaret so chose Margot to do so ☺️

NovaArt3mis · 27/10/2018 09:31

It's my daughter's middle name so obviously I like it a lot. We had a surprising number of people think the T at the end was not silent Hmm

Sabulous · 27/10/2018 09:32

I love it!

Raydan · 27/10/2018 09:33

I'm not a fan, but I don't like the trend for very granny-ish names.

Narya · 27/10/2018 09:33

It's one of the names I only ever see on MN and never meet any in real life. I quite like it but don't love it.

L0lacabana · 27/10/2018 09:33

Ooh it seems quite marmite so far

I really like it, it's on my list. My sister isn't fussed- makes her think of Margo Leadbetter, which is precisely why I like it!

MollyHuaCha · 27/10/2018 09:38

It's lovely.

artio0 · 27/10/2018 09:38

I usually like 'granny-names' but not keen on this one at all. Not sure why, just don't like the way it sounds.

BUT, it's a solid name and you'll have to like it, I wouldn't care much what others thought to be honest.

jjemimapuddleduck · 27/10/2018 09:43

I love this name.

Btw, its not weird to have a list of baby names before you TTC, I think many of us do! And I'm not TTC any more, but O still have favourite name lists!

jjemimapuddleduck · 27/10/2018 09:43

*I

donkey86 · 27/10/2018 09:44

I love it. And although the name gets mentioned a lot on here I only know one little Margot irl (and I spend a lot of time with under-2s).

RedDwarves · 27/10/2018 09:45

Really don't like it. Too close to maggot for my liking, and I just don't think it has a nice sound.

itssquidstella · 27/10/2018 09:46

Love it!

Goandplay · 27/10/2018 09:46

I love it. If I had another girl she would be called this. Whenever I see the name it makes me feel broody.

Chelseajunior · 27/10/2018 09:49

Sorry I read it as maggot
Not keen.

Madeline88 · 27/10/2018 10:01

If it helps, we don't know any little margots although I know a couple around my age (early 30s)

pixieloux · 27/10/2018 10:25

Absolutely gorgeous! It’s one of our top choices this time around. I don’t know any but I think it’s only in the lower end of 300s here in the charts.

Sophronia · 27/10/2018 11:42

I think it’s going to get quite popular over the next few years. I like it but prefer Margaret.

deptfordgirl · 27/10/2018 12:24

I don't love it. And it seems to be everywhere at the moment.

Shadow1234 · 27/10/2018 14:17

Not too keen. Sounds harsh to me.

ThunderInMyHeart · 27/10/2018 14:28

Love it! On my list

Margot Tenenbaum...

Sessy19 · 27/10/2018 14:43

It’s seriously popular here, and ironically the last three girls born I’ve known have been called Margot...and their mothers have wanted ‘original and unique’.

Is it popularised because of the actress Margot Robbie? 10yrs ago, I’m pretty sure no one here would have MN ‘Approved’ the name 😂
