My MIL is an Evelyn and sometimes gets ‘Effie’ for short

junebirthdaygirl · 26/10/2018 21:09

One who is nearly 2, one who is 26. Both never shortened. And one who is 60 and called Ev by her sisters but full name by everyone else. Lovely name.

Binglejellies · 26/10/2018 21:11

At DD’s nursery there are 4 and they all have different spellings.

TheGhostOfYou · 26/10/2018 21:12

Only my own, almost 9 months old

Yogagirl123 · 26/10/2018 21:17

Only one, my of my favourite girls names though.

Yogagirl123 · 26/10/2018 21:18

Hehe one of my favourite girls names.

PetraRabbit · 26/10/2018 21:21

I think 2 but both are 'birth certificate only' and called Evie in everyday life.

needsanewname · 26/10/2018 21:21

Over the past 5 months or so, I've known 5 people name their baby girl Evelyn, it's definitely rising up the ranks and think it's the next Evie.

I like both names but I hate popular names, that may be because my own name, although not unusual, is very uncommon.

wrapsuperstar · 26/10/2018 21:21

I know three (none mine) aged 7, 5 and 4. Older two are known by full name, youngest nicknamed Evs....

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 26/10/2018 21:21

None. South East.

needsanewname · 26/10/2018 21:22

I'm in Yorkshire and 3 of the babies are also in Yorkshire, other 2 are outside but still North.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 26/10/2018 21:23

Do know an Aibhlinn though which is similar but much nicer imo.

E20mom · 26/10/2018 21:24

Lots in London

Owlish · 26/10/2018 21:28

One. My 79 year old MIL.

As an aside, this is the first time I've commented on a baby name thread. I'm 52 and childless

Owlish · 26/10/2018 21:29

Oh, FIL sometimes calls her Ev and we're in the north east. Not that it matters, I guess.

SallyWD · 26/10/2018 21:45

1 in Norfolk who is 5. Think she's always called Evelyn

Cbeebiesrehab · 27/10/2018 00:41

I have an Evelyn. Know of one other-who gets called Evelyn as a full. My daughter is Effie day to day.

RedStarBlueStar · 27/10/2018 00:53

My sister is a Brownie leader and currently has 5! She says 3 are Evie, 1 is just Evelyn and the other is Lynnie (which I think is quite cute).

They also have another three or four Evie’s (a mix of Eve’s & Eva’s)

Plus several Niamh’s and Ava’s

RedStarBlueStar · 27/10/2018 00:53

(This is SE, Home Counties)

Rebecca36 · 27/10/2018 02:46

I think it is a lovely name! Evie, Eve or Eva - or even Lyn - are good nicknames.

Belindabauer · 27/10/2018 09:38

Quite a few of primary school age.

patsywineeyedwillie · 27/10/2018 09:44

I only know one, my dd(1).

She just gets called Evelyn mostly but sometimes Ev. I'm in the north west. I have overheard 2 people whist out and about call their child Evelyn though. I love the name!

deptfordgirl · 27/10/2018 12:27

Loads

MikeUniformMike · 27/10/2018 14:19

Several. All Evies. All subjected to the Ever-lyn/Eve-lyn? confusion.

Childrenofthesun · 27/10/2018 14:27

I know three, all aged 8. One goes by the name Evie, the others are Evelyn. One pronounces it Ev-el-yn, the other two Eve-lyn. I don't know any older or younger.
