We’ve pretty much decided on Sebastian for our boy, although Elijah & Zachary aren’t 100% out of the equation yet.

Which name do you think fits best for his twin sister: Beatrix, Cecily or Penelope? We are still discussing Edith, Frances, Margot & something a little more ‘unusual’ - Hermione, too.

We aren’t wanting anything matchy which is why these are looking likely to be our top picks (Sebastian, Beatrix, Cecily & Penelope) but nothing is set in stone yet.

Older siblings are Aurora, Violet & Theo(dore - but is always Theo) Thanks!

Thanks, @TatianaLarina! Not that it really bothers me lol. My little ladies are far from twee and helpless... Rora outsmarts us all on a regular basis and despite being the youngest, Letty is most definitely the leader of the pack lol. I’m quite glad that Theo is getting a brother to help him in a house of some very headstrong women... Letty has definitely knocked him down a peg or two lol.

Thanks, @KiplingAngelCake - I do love Margot and if it wasn’t too close to Theo (or even had a clear diminutive so it would be Theodore & Margot aka Theo and X) then my personal top pick would be it and Zachary. I think those two names fit so well together and are also keeping in style of A, T and V’s names. Sebastian & Penelope or Hermione are pairings I love too... If I can get over the Disney/Harry Potter things with each ot them lol.

Frances and Sebastian work very well together imo.
Also really like Cecily.

Sophronia · 24/10/2018 06:18

Sebastian and Penelope!

motortroll · 24/10/2018 07:09

My girl is Frances, it's a great name!!she totally owns it too!

I love Cecily and Francesca and agree with pp that Cecilia is also lovely (on my list for my imaginary future babies along with Juliet)

I think Seb and Cece might sound matchy though if you don't want matchy (although I actually LOVE this)

Frances flows best "Sebastian and Frances" the others sound a bit wordy or tongue twisting "Sebastian and cecily"

Polkasq · 24/10/2018 08:18

Love Hermione! Really like Frances and Cecilia, rather than Cecily.

MadisonAvenue · 24/10/2018 08:25

I see Belle has already been suggested a few times Wink

pixieloux · 24/10/2018 18:35

Yeah... Being a mum of a six year old called Aurora, the Disney thing is a bit boring now! I didn’t think it would bother me when we were first naming her but boy was I wrong lol. I don’t think we’ll be keeping Sebastian on the list now.

Cecilia was on our list but we vetoed it - It reminds DH too much of the song plus we needed to narrow things down A LOT and got rid of all the names that shared the same ending as our other DCs.

Thanks for your help ladies and gents but we’re going back to the drawing board with girl names as we’ve stopped considering Sebastian now... Definitely don’t want to highlight the Disney name thing any further! I love Aurora’s name more than any other out there but that is the association most people have when hearing her name.

There’s nothing more boring than people who watch Disney. I’d go ahead with the names you like and choose your friends more carefully.

If anyone mentioned Disney to me they’d get this face —> Hmm

pixieloux · 24/10/2018 20:47

@TatianaLarina

It’s not that we get it constantly but if we meet anyone we usually get “Aurora... Like the princess?” That doesn’t really bother me though - I watched Disney growing up as do the LOs so we know the association.

She was always “princess Aurora” at nursery and although she loved it - being 3/4 years old, I didn’t. She shares a name with one character - not a whole personality and traits lol. It’s more the association, some have with the name, because of the Disney princess that bothers me when people say “like Disney?”; helpless, hapless - just waiting for a prince to come and scoop her up so she can live happily ever after.

I think having more than one child with a ‘Disney name’ makes us look like fans and as if we’re fully into princess culture when we’re not - all our children are given the same opportunities and are equal. It’s just not the image I want to help create for us. I’m actually quite pleased that Aurora is rising in popularity too as I hope it’ll be seen as a name in it’s own right - away from Disney and the princess.

I don’t personally connect Sebastian with Disney straight away but clearly others do. I do feel quite deflated going back to square one again but I’d rather hear it. I mean the jokes are a bit annoying when you first read them lol but they are actually helpful as you get a view into people’s minds upon first hearing/seeing something.

Surprised anyone mentions anything to you at all Tat with such a miserable outlook!

pixieloux · 24/10/2018 20:59

I’m also aware that I’m coming off as a moaning myrtle. I love my daughter’s name and wouldn’t change it for the world but I’m just so done with this naming process lol. I just didn’t foresee myself having to consider whether a name was too Disney or not when naming her lol.

I’ve loved this stage with every pregnancy but it’s so difficult this time around... There seems to be a fault with every name we like. Tip: Don’t have more than 4 children - naming becomes near to impossible lol. This is probably because I just feel so unprepared for twins therefore also have this need to be organised.

Anyway, therapy session aside... Sebastian is off the table lol. Thanks for the help everyone!

If it helps no one has ever associated my Sebastian with disney. He is 5 in December.

You could call a baby anything and a new disney/cbeebies programme/celebrity could pop up with that name.

I wouldn't give it another thought.

TatianaLarina · 24/10/2018 22:04

So what? All that tells you is that people who watch a lot of Disney see Disney everywhere.

I don’t know anyone who watches much Disney tbh. I connect Sebastian with Rome, Shakespeare and Belle and Sebastian, that’s it.

pixieloux · 24/10/2018 22:10

I honesty have no idea who/what Belle and Sebastian are... What am I not making a connection with? 😂 I was assuming Belle was another Disney joke b/c I’m being so hyper aware of them lol.

TatianaLarina · 24/10/2018 23:00

One of my favourite childhood series.

pixieloux · 24/10/2018 23:13

I’ve never seen it! I was drawing blanks lol. All I was getting from my Google searches was a band lol.

After a bit of a wobble from me, we’ve decided on this as our shortlist now...

Aurora (Rora), Violet (Letty), Theo(dore),

Elijah Rafferty, Rowan or Tadhg (Tige) &
Frances Clíodhna (Clee-Uh-Na)
Hermione Cara or Saoirse (Seer-Sha)

Quentin Rafferty or Tadhg &
Beatrix Róisín (Ro-Sheen)
Cecily Róisín
Hermione Cara or Saoirse
Penelope Cara or Róisín

Zachary Tadhg &
Frances Clíodhna
Margot Clíodhna

We’ve officially taken Sebastian out of the equation.

TatianaLarina · 24/10/2018 23:15

Zachary and Beatrix.

MadisonAvenue · 25/10/2018 01:14

I was thinking of the band called Belle and Sebastian, I wasn’t aware of the TV series Grin

pixieloux · 25/10/2018 07:26

That’s all I was coming up with too and I thought we’d get away with that lol. Oh well, it’s off the list now anyway 😂 It’s between Zachary & Quintin/Quentin now.

We kind of overlooked the latter as Quinn rhymes with Theo’s middle name... We vetoed Quinn as a middle name option as I think it’ll be obvious to have two middle names rhyme but I think a nickname is less so. I’m feeling good about our two choices :) I think they fit really well with A, T & V’s style too. So it’ll be either...

Zachary w/ either Frances or Margot (as we love it so much that the matching Os w/ Theo doesn’t seem to matter much lol... We will find a NN for her once she’s here too - We did with the others)

Or

Quintin/Quentin w/ either Beatrix, Cecily or Penelope

OP posts:
gilmoregal · 25/10/2018 08:34

Zachary and Margot are perfect, gorgeous names and go with your other children's names.

pixieloux · 25/10/2018 09:59

@gilmoregal They’ve always been my personal favourite pairing but we ended up nixing Margot w/ Theo but I think we could go with something like Mari as a NN and make it work lol.

OP posts:
TatianaLarina · 25/10/2018 10:19

I think Frances is the joker in the pack. It’s a very drab name and more conventional than all the others.

Not really fair to name two girls Aurora and Violet which are beautiful and lump another one with Frances

coastergirl · 25/10/2018 10:33

I didn't make a Disney connection at all. Could a nickname for Margot be Maggie? I really like it. Zach and Maggie doesn't seem matchy at all.

gilmoregal · 25/10/2018 11:16

I have to say I agree with the below on Frances. Aurora and Violet are pretty, feminine but strong too and I'd be gutted to have them as sisters and be named Frances.

Personally I'd go cute for a nn like Magpie or Gogo. ( not everyone's taste I know)

Rory, Letty and Gogo sound like the coolest sisters.

Also the o sound with Theo and Margot, I think as they're not the twins and you'll have five names to say it doesn't sounds too matchy.

pixieloux · 25/10/2018 11:24

We did worry that Frances seems too unisex against Aurora and Violet. Aurora has that potential with Rory and Violet has Vi which isn’t overly frilly, IMO where as neither Frances and Fran are overly feminine which wouldn’t be a problem if the girls’ names weren’t. I do love it though lol.

Francis was also on my boy’s list too but it just makes me think of House of Cards / Kevin Spacey now.
