Flower name!

Hi,
I'm looking for a flower name. My mum was called Fleur, I'm jasmine and my daughter is Primrose so would like to keep the flowers going! I like names that are a bit unusual, I'd love to hear some suggestions?!

I quite like Peony, but I don't know if that's too out there, and Pansy or Dahlia too.

Thank you in advance!

No to honeysuckle. The 'suckle' bit is just horrible and nobody wants that as a name surely? And yes I know there's the actress but still. No to 'suckle' in a name imo

I like Violet and Aster

Peach2018 · 15/10/2018 20:16

Yeah fleur is lovely, my mum died when I was a teenager so my we named my daughter after her, her full name is Primrose Fleur.

I do love dahlia, I'm really close to my grandad and it's his favourite flower too so I love that link!

Loving all these suggestions! If I ever need anything again I think I'm just going to write on here 😂

Also Valeria (from flower called Valerian)

Potcallingkettle · 15/10/2018 20:37

I second Hebe. Not too out there as rhymes with Phoebe so sounds familiar.

MrsCar · 15/10/2018 20:39

I'm probably repeating, but here goes...

Lily

parrotonthesofa · 15/10/2018 20:44

I know a lovely french woman called capucine. I think it's a beautiful name.

BewareOfDragons · 15/10/2018 20:44

Linnea or Linnéa (pronounced Lin-Nay-Ah) Swedish in origin, a little pink flower. Lovely name.

MikeUniformMike · 15/10/2018 20:45

Tulip

IdaBWells · 15/10/2018 20:46

The only ones I would NOT chose are Lily, Iris and Ivy as they have all been overused a lot recently. As you've already bravely used Primrose (beautiful) I would chose a more unusual flower name.

(BTW my best friend and Uni was a French guy whose Scottish mum was called Primrose. Everyone called her Prim. Lovely lady)

QuickWash · 15/10/2018 20:50

Zinnia and Petunia - the twins in The Darling Buds of May

Posy is lovely although another P initial

Marigold
Marguerite
Poppy
Lavender
Sorrel
Laurel
Willow

Peach2018 · 15/10/2018 20:51

Yes I know a few Ivy's and Lily's.

Thank you, our little girls name is normally shortened to prim too! When we said what we were going to call her people were a little bit opinionated on her name but I'm glad we stuck with it!

Peony might get called Penis in the school playground... Confused

Peach2018 · 15/10/2018 21:12

I hadn't thought of that 🙈🤣

I love the idea of 'picking a flower' name 😁

It's already been mentioned but Azelea was on our list. My OH was dying to use it! But we ended up with another name we both loved in the end. It'll stay on our list for the next one.
