Alicia?

A - liss - e - a
Or
A - lee - sha

I love the first pronunciation but hate the second. Is there another way some might spell it so it’s more obviously pronounced the first way?

The first way, solely because we had an audio book of Malory Towers and this was how Alicia was pronounced. No amount of watching The Good Wife has rewired my brain to think Aleesha

AlmondVanilla · 08/10/2018 21:51

Alisha/Aleisha I would say the second way.

Alicia... Probably the first way, because I only knew one at school and hers was said that way.

Alyssa I would say Lisa with a short on the front. Again, just because someone I know pronounced it that way.

Alyssia- Alyssia

Alicia- Alisha

Alicia = Alissia
Aleisha = Aleesha

I think theAleesha pronunciation might have come over from America. Don’t they tend to pronounce Marcia as Marsha too?

It is simply a name that has two pronunciations and not that hard to deal with.

Sunflower321 · 09/10/2018 13:35

Yes, Marcia, Patricia, Lucian generally pronounced as Marsha, Patrisha, Lushian etc

And Alicia Alisha.

Lydiaatthebarre · 12/10/2018 16:41

It's Alissia. I think it began as a Latin name and was where the English name Alice came from.

A girl from school was called Alicia, and pronounced Ah-li-cee-ah. So I pronounce it like that. I pronounce Alisha, Alisha!

My sister is Alicea. Pronounced Alice-e-a. She gets Lis for short.
