Opinions on the name?
What gender would you associate it with?

I used to teach a Loki. He was wild! It acutually really suited him and he certainly never got bullied for it. I wouldn't use it myself, but realistically most kids will associate it with the marvel character (who's pretty popular and dishy) rather than the original from Norse mythology (who is seriously messed up and evil). I don't think he'd have trouble over it during his school years. I can't see it working well on an adult though so would look for something you can use it as a nn with. Otherwise I don't actually dislike it.

Ive never heard it before, no idea what Nors is, but I thought it sounded like an unusual but attractive boys name!

BluthsFrozenBananas · 25/09/2018 16:23

If you want a kind of Loki association without actually using the name you could use Raven. If you just like the sound of the name or just know it from Marvel don’t use it, Loki is not a nice or fun god.

Boy and I really don't like it sorry

DaniC18 · 25/09/2018 19:27

Definitely a boy's name. I must admit i think it suits a pet more than a child but if you like it then why not?x

@toomanypillows seriously!!? They have sons called Loki and Lucifer! Now I've heard it all. How old are they? I wonder if they named lucifer after the tv series not really understanding further than that...?

toomanypillows · 25/09/2018 21:01

@darkblu seriously. Surname is the same as a large round citrus fruit beginning with O. He is googleable actually because he keeps going "missing" and it always reported in the local newspaper.

Lucifer is on FB but he's spelt it as in Lu Ci Fee because FB wouldn't accept it 😂😂

madeoficecream · 25/09/2018 21:04

No. Its male but its too famous for the marvel films... especially seeing as those films are aimed at kids any child with that name is not going to have a good time in school!

What about the name Malachai for a boy? Means sort of the same thing (mischievous spirit) but would be more subtle as its not associated with a huge childrens movie franchise!!

Willow2017 · 25/09/2018 21:41

How does Loki sound like a nn for Lachlan? They are pronounced totally differently!

I do like the name but tbh i wouldnt use it. I like Tom Hiddlestons portrayal of Loki in the films and i like Gerard Butler in Gods of Egypt but i wouldnt call a child Set either.

If you are going to chose a 'god' name chose one who isnt an evil psychopath 😀
