It's a family name I always hated and discounted, but I said it aloud today and it is growing on me. Thoughts?

Irontheshirts · 22/09/2018 23:33

GinIsIn · 22/09/2018 23:33

Zigazagazoo · 22/09/2018 23:35

Ok if you’re naming a 70 year old.

AdelaideK · 22/09/2018 23:35

Horrendous. Such a frumpy sounding name.

dinosaurkisses · 22/09/2018 23:36

Terrible.

I know a 30 year old Brenda and it seems far too old fashioned for her, so I can’t imagine it on a toddler or teenager!

BillywilliamV · 22/09/2018 23:38

T'is the name of my mil Grin

Audreyhelp · 22/09/2018 23:39

You have to be kidding .

GissASquizz · 22/09/2018 23:40

A grumpy dinner lady who makes lumpy mash.

Harrykanesrightsock · 22/09/2018 23:41

I think she holds her own on the purchase ledger team.

MarcieBluebell · 22/09/2018 23:43

Middle name type name

Nacreous · 22/09/2018 23:45

I’m sorry but I think it’s bad. Okay for naming a chicken or some other wholesome but otherwise not hugely interesting animal but really not keen for a person.

NeepNeepNeep · 22/09/2018 23:46

But she does a lovely semolina.

...that your classmates in secondary school find out about and then they decide to call you Brenda for all of 4th year.

Happened to a chap in my year whose mn was Ernest.

DramaAlpaca · 22/09/2018 23:47

Brenda is one of the ugliest names I've ever heard, it's horrible.

Strangely, I like Brendan for a boy though.

NeepNeepNeep · 22/09/2018 23:52

What about Briony or Brianna? Is it too like Brian?

WobbleTime · 22/09/2018 23:57

Brenda makes me think of brown tweed. No idea why. But it’s not a nice name

Cosmoa · 22/09/2018 23:58

Nope nope nope! Just no.

Justabouthadituptohere · 22/09/2018 23:59

Brenda - Brian - No

figelnarage · 22/09/2018 23:59

It's old fashioned but not in a good way, sorry.

Brenna?

JungMum · 23/09/2018 00:03

no. but I think maybe names ending in da are stronger sounding that olivia amelia etc and are going to sound appealing soon. So I don't like Brenda but I get it, that sound is coming back. Rhoda, Zelda, Belinda.. this I can imagine.
