Do I use a Kardashian name?

For a girl I love the name Rain/Reign/Reine (not sure how I’d spell it) but baby daddy is reluctant as it’s one of Kourtney Kardashians kids and he thinks that people will just assume she’s named after that...which she’s not!! What are your views? X

Raine might be a more traditional spelling - it’s the only version I have seen). Definitely not Reign/e (kings and queens) or Rein/e (Horses).

Not mad on the name but it’s ok. I do itch at the use of “baby daddy” though...

JadeLucie24 · 10/09/2018 07:33

@crumpet
SorryConfused was the only word I could use to describe the father but I’m not with him, sorry if it made you cringe haha! And yes I like Raine actually Thank you!

I don't think most people will have any idea what Kourtney Kardashians kids are called. It's not like they're the important superstars, is it? That's Khloe/Kendall/Kim etc.

crumpet · 10/09/2018 07:37

😀

RavenWings · 10/09/2018 07:38

And yes, agreed - definitely Raine!

furandchandeliers · 10/09/2018 07:38

Isn't the Kardashian's reign a boy?

AuntieStella · 10/09/2018 07:38

I would think if Barbara Cartland's DD (who was the second wife of Princess Diana's DDad)

I've never watched anything about Kardashians (only have any idea who they are, because they're mentioned quite a lot) and don't know most of the names. Including this one.

NicoAndTheNiners · 10/09/2018 07:39

Only Raine I know is Raine Spencer, so polar opposite of the Kardashians. Its not like you're calling the kid North West.

DontFindYourselfInMe · 10/09/2018 07:41

My 14 DS yr old has the name raine. I've loved it long before Kourtney K ever did! He loves his name BTW.

Secretsquirrel101 · 10/09/2018 07:41

Personally I didn’t have a clue there was a Kardashian called Reign so that wouldn’t put me off exactly. I don’t like the name myself but if you do, please don’t use Rein/e, that’s a piece of tack for horses.

helpmum2003 · 10/09/2018 07:42

I would personally steer clear of any Kardashian name.

What do you like about Raine? Maybe people could suggest an alternative?

BeeFarseer · 10/09/2018 07:42

There's a character called Reyn in a series of books that I love, but they are fantasy books. I prefer that spelling to any of the others.

Cbeebiesrehab · 10/09/2018 07:45

Raine is fine and spelt this way does not give off too much of a Kardashian vibe. The other two spellings are awful though (King/Queen/Horses)

UnderMajorDomoMinor · 10/09/2018 07:48

Raine is ok. But I prefer Storm or Winter and with those you completely avoid a KK link.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 10/09/2018 07:51

Storm has a link, one of them has a child named Stormi.

mintich · 10/09/2018 07:55

Makes me think of Rainn Wilson the actor.
I like that spelling or Raine for a girl

JadeLucie24 · 10/09/2018 08:20

Yeah I guess it’s just because my girl will grow up at the same time as their son will probably be in the media

Didn’t Diana and her siblings refer to their step mother as Acid Raine?
Hope your dd doesn’t turn out to be a bit larger than average otherwise the kids at school will call her Heavy Raine.
Or there’s Raine Raine go away.
I think it’s a name which is going to lead to teasing or bullying.
Perhaps better as a middle name.

SpottingTheZebras · 10/09/2018 08:47

I would stay well away from any name related to the Kardashians although I don’t think they have been able to ruin the association of Penelope but all the other babies’/children’s names just aren’t my idea of actual names and I would hate to be in anyway linked to any of the adults.

OutPinked · 10/09/2018 09:24

For people who don’t follow the Kardashian’s, they’d probably have no idea this name was linked to them. I don’t think Kourtney makes the headlines anywhere near as much as Kim or Kylie. If you were wanting to use North or Stormi, your DP would have a point...

SleepingStandingUp · 10/09/2018 09:30

Baby's Daddy??

Baby daddy sounds like you want to be a Kardashian.

Raineis pretty, I'd imagine free and fun, maybe hippyish parents

Rein would be a boy with parents who don't care their kids name looks stupid

Reign would be a lite brat, full on entitled toder, whose parents indulge his every whim. Rather like King or Sir as names

BusterGonad · 10/09/2018 09:59

Yep, I was itching at 'baby daddy' too. Makes me want to vomit! 🤣

Enko · 10/09/2018 10:31

You could always call her Loraine and just use the NN Raine.

I love it as a name it was on our shortlist for DD3

Icklepup · 10/09/2018 16:19

Raine

fadeintoobscurity · 10/09/2018 17:01

What about Raina?
