Do I use a Kardashian name?

For a girl I love the name Rain/Reign/Reine (not sure how I’d spell it) but baby daddy is reluctant as it’s one of Kourtney Kardashians kids and he thinks that people will just assume she’s named after that...which she’s not!! What are your views? X

I've got a Mason which is another of her children's names,I liked it anyway though

ShalomJackie · 11/09/2018 09:54

If you use the term 'baby daddy' then it is compulsory to use a Kardashian name.

ShalomJackie · 11/09/2018 09:57

How about a variation such as "light drizzle"?

Changedmynametoolikeyou · 11/09/2018 09:57

It just makes me think of:
“Hi, my name is Rain, I have my own kiln and my dress is made out of wheat”

But I’m showing my age there.

TatianaLarina · 11/09/2018 10:11

What I said was that Hosanna would be shortened to Ho as a teenager, and I could come up with alternative such as Alleluliah for the sibling but I couldn’t be arsed (mainly because there were many other suggestions on the thread.) I never called virtue names ‘alleluljah names’.

If you can’t understand plain English that’s on you.

Cbeebiesrehab · 11/09/2018 10:17

Ok Tatiana. You told me I misquoted you. I didn’t. That’s on you. Oh and also, the woman in question was married to a man from Zimbabwe and her daughter was born in Zimbabwe. So what’s the fact she may or may not have been white got to do with it? Can names only reflect the mother’s heritage? Anyway, I’m not arguing with you. You chose to get up in arms about people not liking the term baby daddy yet you are rude about a multitude of things. And yes, I’m my opinion what you said could be classed as a rude comment regarding the heritage of names (again, I direct quoted you, so no misrepresentation) Go back and read the comment if you wish. If not. Whatever. Just maybe think about things you’ve said in the past before calling other people out. I won’t be replying to you again because, quite frankly, I have no interest in you trying to wrangle your way out of your comments.

BusterGonad · 11/09/2018 10:19

In future Tat I will make sure I research all things I express an opinion on just to be sure that I do not offend! It's such a mine field!

Changedmynametoolikeyou · 11/09/2018 10:19

You see Rain would never get into an argument like this. She’s too busy weaving and dancing naked in a field of heather.

onewayoflife · 11/09/2018 10:20

I think Reina/Raina is nice and then not a Kardashian name

FuzzyPenguin · 11/09/2018 10:23

I am a Lorraine, have used the nickname Rain in the past with no issues.

pumpkinyael · 11/09/2018 10:28

Reine means queen in French. Not a bad name imo. Certainly wouldn't remind me of the of the Kardashians... (I thought their names started with K?)

I also like Rain and Rania.

user14869556378 · 11/09/2018 11:11

Both Raynes I know are spelt Rayne. It's my favourite spelling version

user14869556378 · 11/09/2018 11:11

Ps a lovely name and considering it's a girl I don't think of Kardasians. Also how many kids are now called Mason?!

sanssherif · 11/09/2018 11:15

YABU for calling the man baby daddy

Rarfy · 11/09/2018 11:15

Kendal has made our baby list. I also quite like Penelope but must admit with that being quite out there it put me off a bit people thinking of the Kardashians. Raine is a lovely name tho. There is rainie on eastanders to give a different slant haha

TatianaLarina · 11/09/2018 12:05

Back for an encore Cbeebies?

You did misquote me and I showed how. You misinterpreted my post, whether intentionally or not it’s hard to tell.

The father in question was white Zimbabwean - a country with a history of oppressive white minority rule (formerly Rhodesia).

I strongly suggest you stop picking up fag ends and stop boring me.

juneau · 11/09/2018 12:08

If you had a girl named Raine I would think nothing of it, as it's a traditional name and I don't follow the vapid, pointless, pouting, over-exposed Kardashians anyway.

pumpkinyael · 11/09/2018 12:16

I also quite like Penelope but must admit with that being quite out there it put me off a bit people thinking of the Kardashians

Penelope is a lovely name and I honestly wouldn't think of the Kardashians.

Kendall is very Kardashian-y imo...

pumpkinyael · 11/09/2018 12:22

The "Baby" in Baby Daddy does however seem like a slightly unnecessary add-on.
Do people also use the term Baby Mummy? Confused

furandchandeliers · 11/09/2018 13:12

They say baby mum, I've heard men say that.

Doesn't matter what community uses it it's a horrible term.

EachandEveryone · 11/09/2018 14:26

Kendall is out there.

Penelope is not it’s been around for years and it’s a lovely name.

Josico58 · 11/09/2018 14:29

I wouldn't make the association with the Kardashian kid name but I personally don't like the name, especially with your spelling. Seems really hippy-ish and reminds me of that Ross/Rachel scene in FRIENDS...

Rachel: If it's a girl, Rain.
Ross: Veto.
Rachel: Why?
Ross: Rain? "Hi, my name is Rain. I have my own kiln, and my dress is made out of wheat."
Phoebe: I know her! I bought a homemade soap from her!

SoftSheen · 11/09/2018 14:32

Raine for a girl is nice, definitely not any of the other spellings though.

Penelope is a lovely, traditional name.

Kendall- just don't.

Alabasterangel6 · 11/09/2018 14:37

Wasn’t Diana’s stepmother Raine pronounced Rain-e (like rainy?) or have I got that wrong?

I quite like Rena too (pronounced Reena)

Sessy19 · 11/09/2018 15:59

Only on mumsnet would the colloquial term (and an urban dictionary-acceptable one at that) ‘baby daddy’ be somehow reverted to be a cultural misappropriation.
And only by an utter snob.

Reine is a pretty name. I wouldn’t associate it with the Kardashians, nor would I bash anyone who wanted to name their child anything associated with the Kardashian’s clan.
