Unusual but not too ‘out there’ boys names

Hi all
I’m currently totally stuck on baby boys names
I’ve scrolled through so many lists and none are jumping out at me
The type I like are:
Ezra (too eee as the surname ends in er) maybe my accent, though
Ivo (OH hates it, so no)
Albie (too babyish?)

So you get my ‘style’ - help! Are there any like this that I haven’t come across?

❤️

Hi what about transitional Victorian names (or old English), Ezra is one and lovely by the way. Thaddeus is another in that style? If you google character lists in Charles Dickinson books you'll find a great list along your style.

Sagegreen · 08/06/2018 10:36

**Dickins obviously- grrr autocorrect! Actually OP, Dickin is a lovely unusual but traditional English name!!

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 08/06/2018 10:38

Dick isn't a favourable nn imo.

@sagegreen I will definitely do that!
@motherlondon we know a Jude which is a bit too close otherwise that is a one I didn’t mind. Otis I really like, but a family dog is called it- which I know I should get over but think some names stick for some reasons like when you know a naughty child! 😂
@mycatplotsdeath there’s a few on there I like, I love milo- but my first horse was called that, Hugo- again the pet thing

If people didn’t have such great names for pets I’d be sorted! This is definitely the style I like though so thanks for suggestions so far definitely some to think about ☺️

I love this and ivo. The Ira falls into the category you of being too eeee or ‘ah’ at the end. I’m from the North and our surname ending in ‘er’ it’s too mouthy when you say it! I did think about a middle name which would stop the flow of that but then at school you never get your middle name called out!
Feel like I have a reason for every one I love! His surname is the problem 😂😂

Ezra is likely to be very popular.
Ivo - is it Ee-vo or Eye-vo? (I think Ee-vo but I've heard both)

I don't like Jude or Otis at all.

I quite like Miles. Why don't you find a book or list of baby names and pick out all those you like then select from those?

wildgirls · 08/06/2018 12:20

Jonah is an awesome name!

ingenvillvetavardukoptdintroja · 08/06/2018 12:20

I’ll shut up now!!!

sausagerollsontheside · 08/06/2018 12:23

Love albie

Kt2108 · 08/06/2018 12:36

@mikeuniformmike eye-voh it would be! He hates it though so highly unlikely! So many names ending in er I love but just clash with his surname I think.

I’ve been on pretty much all lists online, scrolled through 1,000 names the other day and came out with one 😂 although there is already two on this thread which weren’t on there!

I'm not keen on Ivo either. Or Albie.
If you like Ezra, you might like a different biblical name. Enoch might be a bit too out there though.
