Unusual but not too ‘out there’ boys names

Hi all
I’m currently totally stuck on baby boys names
I’ve scrolled through so many lists and none are jumping out at me
The type I like are:
Ezra (too eee as the surname ends in er) maybe my accent, though
Ivo (OH hates it, so no)
Albie (too babyish?)

So you get my ‘style’ - help! Are there any like this that I haven’t come across?

❤️

Jago has been mentioned on another thread. Cornish for James/Jacob.

I recently met a little boy called Joah. I thought it was a lovely name and more unusual than Jonah.

Kt2108 · 08/06/2018 15:29

Some lovely names being suggested and all of my favourites have an ‘er’ or ‘ah’ sound at the end which doesn’t go with our surname as it ends in ‘er’. Honestly think I might have to bite the bullet and just go for it !

Jonas or Elias?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/06/2018 15:59

Gabriel is gorgeous it's what I plan to call my boy if I'm ever lucky enough to have one. However it's far from unusual. Theyre everywhere.

Xavier. Herbie.Casper. Maurice. Lawrence.

Are there some family nmaes you could use, like a great-uncle or great-great-grandad or something.
The names on here are all likely to be quite popular but something like Alan, Duncan or Gordon might be a bit more unusual

Travis would have been my boys name but alas, 2 girls and I'm done Grin

Kt2108 · 08/06/2018 16:48

@butterflyofffreedom
How would we go about pronouncing Rafe? Have it in my head just making sure it’s not wrong!

Mike- we would be going with my grandads name as a middle name which is John so something classic

For when I say something unusual I mean just not your usual, Ben Michael etc names that are all around me if that makes sense!

Love this thread. Eli is now on my list thank you!

MikeUniformMike · 08/06/2018 17:47

Rafe is pronounced Rayf. It is Ralph as pronounced by posh people.
John is nice as a middle name but you could use it as a first name nn Johnny. It would probably be more unusual than Ezra or Albie.

HeyDolly · 08/06/2018 18:13

I like Rafferty

Cosmoa · 08/06/2018 18:38

My Grandad only went by Albie so I don't see it a babyish..

I'm curious what your last name is! Some of the suggested names ending in er are lovely so just go for it 😊

ButterflyOfFreedom · 09/06/2018 07:27

Yes I would pronounce Rafe as rayf.

Or there's Ralph or Rafferty...
