Opinions on the name Lynne?
Not pregnant, just discussing future baby names with a friend and got a very funny look when I said this one so decided to see what the MN consensus was!

Not for me. My mum (64) used to have lots of friends called Lynne. All women old before their time.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 20/04/2018 19:57

Shock nooo! Lynne is awful. Ive know 4 in my life and they’ve all been nasty fuckers Grin

fleshmarketclose · 20/04/2018 20:02

No, like Zibbidoo only Lynn/Lynnes I've known have been awful.

pigaletta · 20/04/2018 20:04

It just makes me think of Alan Partridge!

MadisonAvenue · 20/04/2018 20:13

Pigaletta that was my first thought too!

No, it's an awful name.

DailyWailEatsSnails · 20/04/2018 20:18

My cousin. She's nice. Not awful, nasty or old!

Hogtini · 20/04/2018 20:21

I know a lovely Lynne but she hates that name. Please think of something more imaginative for your child!

applesandpears56 · 20/04/2018 20:22

I think it’s quite pretty!

Ummmmgogo · 20/04/2018 20:25

it's nice and it's really unusual. no-one will be able to spell it butg that's true for lots of names.

IVflytrap · 20/04/2018 20:43

I like it. It's sweet, unusual these days and unfussy. I've seen it spelt Linn before and prefer that spelling - Google tells me the Linn spelling is a Scottish and Scandinavian variant.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/04/2018 20:57

Very sorry, but a dreadful name.

Yika · 20/04/2018 20:59

I know a 4 year old Lynn. I don't love it but would like it spelt Lin or Linn.

BrutusMcDogface · 20/04/2018 20:59

Horrible name I'm afraid.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 20/04/2018 21:01

its a boys' name round here....

pilates · 20/04/2018 21:02

No, very dated.

ViserionTheDragon · 20/04/2018 21:03

I knew an older lady at work called Lynne and she was a horrible cow. So no.

Tortycat · 20/04/2018 21:05

Not that bad but so many better ones

Battleax · 20/04/2018 21:07

For some reason they always seem to gossipy, small-minded, grumpy old bigots.

koalab · 20/04/2018 21:21

Wow, I am a Lynne but never realised it was such a disliked name. I'm only 30 but I don't know anyone else my age or younger with the name now I think of it. It does seem surprisingly hard for people to spell though. I get Lyn, Lynn, Lin, Linda etc.

Sophronia · 20/04/2018 21:25

I think it’s not bad, I also don’t mind Linda.

Winchester13 · 20/04/2018 21:27

My mum is called lynne and she is 50 and there are a few lynnes her age so I just can’t see it as a baby name!

justabunchofbunting · 20/04/2018 21:30

Reminds me of Alan Partridge.
But Its not an ugly name.... I think its just of a certain time isnt it? and has fallen out of favour at the moment.
Lynette might be slightly more fashionable... or Evelyn

SoleBizzz · 20/04/2018 21:32

Lynne is s lovely name.

BackforGood · 20/04/2018 21:32

I quite like it, although there are different ways people spell it, so people get it wrong quite a lot.

greendale17 · 20/04/2018 21:32

Reminds me of fag ash Lynn
