How many Leo’s do you know? (the name not the star sign!)

Am currently pregnant with DC2. Theo was on my list 2 yrs ago when I had DC1 but I’ve been put off it now due to its increasing popularity and coming across quite a few of them at baby and toddler groups.

I like Leo though I looked at a 2017 top 100 baby names list and saw that Leo was no. 8. Even more popular apparently than Theo! I’m a bit surprised at this as I haven’t come across any. Is it popular where you are?

DD has a name that is outside the top 100. I’m not necessarily looking for a purposely unusual name but ideally don’t want a name where DC could potentially be one of 3 in his class.

(I don’t know if I’m having a boy but I think I’m nearly decided on a girl’s name - am just struggling with boys names!)

I know 5 Leo’s. I work with kids so prob meet more than most

pipilangstrumpf · 09/04/2018 08:04

Quite a few.

himalayansalt · 09/04/2018 08:04

I know one, a boy of 7. But I don't spend much time around little children and babies any more so that's probably not terribly helpful!

Twickerhun · 09/04/2018 08:05

I know 4.

BikeRunSki · 09/04/2018 08:05

2, aged 2 ish and 8 ish.

And 1 Neo (Dad’s a massive Matrix fan).

ReversingSnail · 09/04/2018 08:05

I know of one Leo of primary school age.

Even the number one name is only about 1 per cent of boys, so number 8 is fewer.

In a mixed class of 30 it's not impossible but pretty unlikely that 20 per cent of the boys (3 out of 15) would be called Leo!

RustyBear · 09/04/2018 08:07

My great nephew, born last week is Leo.

chezmk1988 · 09/04/2018 08:11

2

Piglatin · 09/04/2018 08:11

I know 3 Leo's all under 1!

ooerrmissus · 09/04/2018 08:13

DS is a Leo. He's in a class of 14. There is another Leo, and there used to be a Leon too. Grin

It's just the luck of the draw, OP.

BlackHillsofDakota · 09/04/2018 08:13

There are two Leos in my dd's class at school

SumAndSubstance · 09/04/2018 08:51

I saw how popular Leo is and wondered where they are all hiding! I’ve taught three in many years teaching and know two others, one 14, one 6. I know more Theos, particularly little ones, and I much prefer Leo as a name anyway.

OOMG · 09/04/2018 08:51

Ah, there seems to be plenty of Leo’s about then Grin thanks all - back to the drawing board maybe.

Sophronia · 09/04/2018 09:38

Leo was #13 in the most recent official stats (2016)

Mrsknackered · 09/04/2018 09:42

One is 22, another 11 and the youngest is 2.

joliejoleen · 09/04/2018 10:05

My DS Grin
But there is not a single Leo in a massive comp I teach in Blush

duckponds · 09/04/2018 10:22

I wanted to call DD2 Leo if she had been a boy but if I had a son now I wouldn't use it as it's ridiculously popular. I know of 6 Leo's all under 2.

ChocolateCrunch · 09/04/2018 10:50

I know one, aged 7.

Threeandabit · 09/04/2018 10:50

One, he is 4.

BeautyAndTheBrat · 09/04/2018 10:51

I know one aged 7 and one 9 months old

ColinsVeryJolly · 09/04/2018 10:51

One is 14

And two are babies.

ColinsVeryJolly · 09/04/2018 10:52
