How many Leo’s do you know? (the name not the star sign!)

Am currently pregnant with DC2. Theo was on my list 2 yrs ago when I had DC1 but I’ve been put off it now due to its increasing popularity and coming across quite a few of them at baby and toddler groups.

I like Leo though I looked at a 2017 top 100 baby names list and saw that Leo was no. 8. Even more popular apparently than Theo! I’m a bit surprised at this as I haven’t come across any. Is it popular where you are?

DD has a name that is outside the top 100. I’m not necessarily looking for a purposely unusual name but ideally don’t want a name where DC could potentially be one of 3 in his class.

(I don’t know if I’m having a boy but I think I’m nearly decided on a girl’s name - am just struggling with boys names!)

Two, one 5 year old Leo and another 11 year old Leo.

FallenAngel89 · 09/04/2018 13:17

One and he's about 7 or 8

dingdongdigeridoo · 09/04/2018 14:08

Four. It’s really popular. Such a shame as it’s an old family name and I was determined to use it for years. But when DS was born it felt like we were at peak leo. There was even one on the ward.

2 under 1 yr

MrsMarigold · 09/04/2018 14:29

Five in London. Personally I prefer Theo.

HugMeBringItIn · 09/04/2018 14:35

I know
1x Leo
1x Theo
2x Neo
1x Rio

No B.O. luckily

Oysterbabe · 09/04/2018 14:50

I know one, he's 3 months and my DS.

Enidblyton1 · 09/04/2018 14:54

I don't know any boys called Theo, and 2 called Leo (age 7 and 2).

MeredithShepherd · 09/04/2018 20:46

@Coconutty89 my DS is also Leo and was 4 in Feb... (are you me?)
I also have never heard of or met another one. I still love the name and am pregnant with DC2 and trying to find a name I love as much! Proving difficult...

PrimeraVez · 10/04/2018 09:52

I have a toddler Leo. There's another Leo (Spanish parents) that we occasionally bump into at the park, but apart from that I don't know of any others personally. We always get lots of compliments on his name (but people always ask if it's short for anything. It's not!)

LoveInTokyo · 10/04/2018 11:16

I know two adult Leos. One is a Leopold, not sure about the other.

SleepFreeZone · 10/04/2018 11:18

I know zero.

keepingbees · 10/04/2018 11:20

I know 3, all aged 10-12

cecinestpasunepipe · 10/04/2018 11:20

Not helpful, I know, but my late dh and I had a little boat on the river called Leo. Happy times.

RosieCotton · 10/04/2018 13:22

I have 2 uncles (both over 50) a nephew (3) and 3 counsins (all between 2 and 16) called Leo. And being named Leoni i always fell into the nickname Leo. So theres a few in my family. Lol.

HermioneGrace · 11/04/2018 14:16

I don’t know any Leo's personally but I think of Leonardo DiCaprio when I think of Leo :)

BubblesAndSquarks · 11/04/2018 14:18

4 leos and 1 theo

ISeeTheLight · 11/04/2018 14:20

There's a Leo in DD's nursery class. They're both 4.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 11/04/2018 20:33

I'm thinking of using Leon but not Leo ...

TheGrumpySquirrel · 11/04/2018 20:34

On my thread people said it was less common / more unusual than Frederic (Freddie)... now I'm second guessing!

anotherchangeychanger · 13/04/2018 08:52

3 under 7 and one teen.

userabcname · 13/04/2018 08:59

I know a baby Leo. It is one of my favourite names and would definitely be on my shortlist if I have another son.
