Sebastian or Jasper?

Just that really.

I’m having trouble choosing between these two names after a lot of discussion to get here.
I really liked Gabriel, but was vetoed.

Sebastian (Seb, Sebby) is a great name and travels well (versions of this name are found in many other languages). Go for it!

ChocolateCrunch · 18/03/2018 05:00

Jasper

SrDuess · 18/03/2018 05:10

Wow there's a lot of hate for these name choices !

Personally i like them both. Would go with Sebastian as it also sounds good when shortened.

beckieperk · 18/03/2018 05:17

I've got a Sebastian. Called Seb or Sebby most of the time. He's amazing and we've had lots of compliments on his name. Not very popular near us (only one other in school). Go for it. Grin

Sophronia · 18/03/2018 05:44

Jasper

sleepymouse · 18/03/2018 05:46

I like both but prefer Jasper. It's a name I can see going from childhood into adulthood

userabcname · 18/03/2018 05:49

I really like Sebastian! Would definitely be a front runner if I ever have another DS.

RedPandaMama · 18/03/2018 05:52

I love Jasper, would be my choice of boy's name but DP hates it. I know a little Sebastian and he's lovely too though. Both nice names!

Starryskiesinthesky · 18/03/2018 06:41

Q like both but prefer Sebastian. Not getting the hate!

mimibunz · 18/03/2018 06:50

I love Sebastian but I hate it when people suggest ways to ‘shorten’ a name. Sebby? That’s just grim.

Xanadu46 · 18/03/2018 06:54

Sebastian

MongerTruffle · 18/03/2018 06:55

Jasper reminds me of "japs eye" Grin and also casper the friendly ghost
In the first episode of Tom and Jerry, Tom was also called Jasper.

I like it spelt as Sebastién.
Surely it would be Sébastien?

Coey2016 · 18/03/2018 07:23

Jasper

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/03/2018 07:30

Sebastian

pipilangstrumpf · 18/03/2018 07:47

The problem with Sebastian is it's nicknames - Seb, Sebby or Basty..!? They sound so weak and unmanly.

So I'd choose Jasper! But not shorten that one either.

Flamingoringo · 18/03/2018 07:59

Thanks all, I don’t mind if people don’t like the names, I find most boys names leave me a bit cold in one way or another. It’s beem hard to find two I liked enough to consider.

I like Sebastian, Seb is not wet at all.
Not a big fan of Jasper.

RosaBaby2 · 18/03/2018 08:05

I like Jasper best Smile

MaidenMotherCrone · 18/03/2018 08:21

Jasper is lovely. Jasper Tudor is one of my favourite historical figures. Not a wet name at all.

Monny1 · 18/03/2018 08:25

Love the name Sebastian.

FairfaxAikman · 18/03/2018 08:32

Depends if you want him to be the only one in his school with a name and whether you mind it being shortened.

Out of the two I'd personally pick Jasper. Not a fan of Twilight, I associate it with Jasper Tudor.

goldentriangle · 18/03/2018 08:34

Loves Sebastian

Belindabauer · 18/03/2018 08:41

I don't like Sebastian and never have.
So it's Jasper for me.

starkid · 18/03/2018 08:55

I like both, but love Jasper :)

SomeRandomBird · 18/03/2018 09:23

Sebastian is an awesome name
