The eponymous character in my dad’s favourite book. He collected different editions/illustrations /translations - about 200. He gave me his first edition for my 21st birthday.

lolaflores · 18/02/2018 17:10

My granny and aunt share my name and I have named DD2 the same. The smae name is then shortened to distinguish all the Elizabeths. There are great aunts and great great grandmothers Elizabeth too.

An 80s pop star. Seriously. (I recently discovered this following a discussion with my parents)...

DramaAlpaca · 18/02/2018 18:39

I share a middle name with my absolutely awesome grandmother, and it's the name I've always gone by. I love that I have that link to her.

Aprilshowerswontbelong · 18/02/2018 18:43

A pop group had a song with my name in the early 70's!!
Could have been worse - Wednesday from the Adamms Family was also on the shortlist apparently!!

mineallmine · 18/02/2018 18:48

My parents had a house in flats and there was a 'lovely girl' with my name there. It's a granny name (and not in a granny-chic way) and I've always hated it.

GrooovyLass · 18/02/2018 18:50

My dad apparently, in a very roundabout way. Hard to explain without saying our names but his name started out as the diminutive of the masculine form of my name.

Knittedfairies · 18/02/2018 19:46

A horse that won the Grand National, according to my dad. When I complained he said I was bloody lucky he didn’t call me Shergar.

My DD is either named after a Jane Austin novel or named for my Nan and sister. Depends whose asking

GrouchyKiwi · 18/02/2018 19:51

My middle name is the female version of my great-grandfather's name as I was born on his birthday. He was a hero in the Dutch Underground during WW2 and a wonderful example to his family so I've always cherished my name.

ThePinkPanter · 18/02/2018 19:51

My mum's friend had a baby 4 months before me and I was gave the same name! A very unusual name then too. I was meant to be Mary.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 18/02/2018 19:51

A song in the 80s

yellowplumpreserves · 18/02/2018 19:52

First name is just one my parents liked. My middle name is my mum's name. She was named after her great-aunt, who in turn was named after her grandmother (my great-great-great grandmother.

user1467976192 · 18/02/2018 19:53

Somebody’s auntie, not my auntie Just one of my mums friends aunties

Thistlebelle · 18/02/2018 19:53

My family don’t believe in “family names” so we aren’t named after anyone.

Saves lots of bother from what I can see from friends.

Enko · 18/02/2018 19:53

1st name after some Olympic swimmer girl who won bronze my dad fancied.. 2nd name after a late paternal aunt (she was killed in a car crash about 6 years before I was born)

My children are all named after loved ones with their mn

BevBrook · 18/02/2018 19:54

I was going to be called Danielle, but my parents called me a unisex nickname while I was a bump, and it stuck, so they gave me the female long version of the name.

My sister was named after a Walton (of Walton’s mountain not the sextuplets). She and I petitoned hard for our youngest sister to be given the name of a minor character in one of the Famous Five books but we were not listened to.

missyB1 · 18/02/2018 19:55

I was named after my Granny in Ireland who died shortly before I was born.

BevBrook · 18/02/2018 19:55

Having written that I realise they could have called me Danny while a bump and still gone with Danielle. But they didn’t.

MrsHathaway · 18/02/2018 19:56

My maternal grandmother, and her mother.

My DC have names variously from: my grandmother, my gggfather, my father, DH's grandfather, FIL, my uncle. And a couple that we just liked.

Bluelonerose · 18/02/2018 19:56

I was named after a popular 80s tv star.
My dad thought she had a nice bum so suggested her name and my mom agreed!

Sorry can't say which too outing Grin
