I don't think I was named after anything , Just a random name

First name = paternal great grandmother's name.

Middle name = mother's first name.

In other words, unoriginal and uninspiring. I don't like family names, and refused to give them to my children.

My DM. Difficult surname so think it was best fit.
DS is named after Shakespeare character as obsessed with this play.
DH has Mil's maiden name as his first name.

My middle name is after the midwife who saved my life Smile

FloydOnThePull · 18/02/2018 23:25

The midwife who delivered me (I was going to be called something else until she rocked up with her awful name)

The woman I sit opposite at work was also named after the midwife who delivered her.

SummerRoberts · 18/02/2018 23:28

My grandad. I have the female version of his name.

AdoraBell · 18/02/2018 23:30

Biblical name. I’ve never liked it and am changing it this year.

Waitinforaflamin · 18/02/2018 23:31

My gradmother had a later in life baby who she was convinced was going to be a girl. She had made a name bracelet for it. It turned out to be a stillborn boy. My mother called me the girls name that my grandmother wanted and she would have named me after the stillborn if I was a boy. My grandmother gave me the name bracelet and I still have it (although it’s slightly different spelling).

I have 3 christian names - the first my parents chose because they liked it,the second is after a family member and the last name is my Mum's name.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 18/02/2018 23:35

DioneTheDiabolist · 18/02/2018 23:39

My mum gave me the name of a deaf children she used to babysit. It was rare at the time but became more popular a few years later.

My second name is her name.

Buntysoven · 18/02/2018 23:45

My parents met whilst in an amateur production of an obscure George Bernard Shaw play. I was named after the heroine. I don't mind at all.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/02/2018 23:45

No one. It was just a name my mum liked.
My dad just said
"Oh that's your department names".

BillywigSting · 18/02/2018 23:46

My mum had a dream in which a foetus (supposedly me) said to her "hello, my name is ".

Her and my dad had spent months trying to think of a name they both agreed on. She suggested it to him when she woke up and he immediately said yes.

They didn't know I was a girl before I was born so my mum thinks I picked my name

I'm not convinced. It's certainly not my favourite (though it's not awful either)

Ilovechocolatebuttons · 19/02/2018 01:19

Named after a soldier who stepped on a mine in WWI....I have the female version.

toffee1000 · 19/02/2018 01:43

First name is just a name my parents liked. Middle name is after my great grandmother.

LemonysSnicket · 19/02/2018 01:45

Sophia Loren

HerRoyalNotness · 19/02/2018 01:57

First name no idea. Middle name is where my mothers favourite aunt lived. I've given DD the name of the favourite aunt as a middle name.

correctpiece · 19/02/2018 02:09

Not named after anyone but the fact that it was a newish name for the UK and so no one would have that name. There was at least one, and often more, in every single class I was ever in at school!

Jojobibs2102 · 19/02/2018 14:26

I was named after my grandparents Joseph and Ann hence the name Joanne. And as my dads side are catholic my middle name is Rita x

Mollie85 · 19/02/2018 16:19

Middle name is my gran who I never met
First name was going to be Kylie but midwife talked my mum out of it - still have a K name (rhymes with thirsty) so I fared slightly better.

I always wanted to call a daughter Lucy Alice (TLTWATW and Wonderland).

Failing that, it would have been Lola after Lola Albright Grin

I picked my boys name (Seth) when I was about 11 - Emmerdale farm Blush

MadisonAvenue · 19/02/2018 17:01

My parents decided to call me a name that was popular at the time (late 60s) so that I wouldn't stand out Hmm
They did the same when naming my sister in the late 50s too.

I hate my name.

AnthonyJoshuasMrs · 19/02/2018 17:15

My name was a compromise between my parents because they both vetoed each other’s choices. Thankfully for me because Petra or Marigold would NOT have suited me! So I ended up with the most common name of my generation and have happily blended into the woodwork my whole life

bridgetreilly · 19/02/2018 17:52

Character in the Shakespeare play my parents saw while expecting me. I've always been very grateful they didn't see King Lear.

ChimpyChops · 19/02/2018 18:49

I am named after my Dad's mum, Emma. My middle name Victoria is just something my mum liked.

expatinspain · 19/02/2018 18:49

One of Charlie's Angels!
