What names did you ADORE but DP/DH vetoed?

I am mourning over the fact I'm not allowed to use Perdita. Sad

Daisy is a cow's name and Aurora, with Rory as a nickname, is too out there. We are back to the drawings board with 8 weeks to go at the moment.

user1483387154 · 12/02/2018 10:51

tobias and noah

MrsJayy · 12/02/2018 10:54

Isla and Rowan i bloody love Rowan he sadly vettoed it twice.we agreed on boys names but no boys came

juddyrockingcloggs · 12/02/2018 11:04

I wanted Jimmy! It was vetoed on the grounds that he thought it sounded like a Martina Cole character.

NakedMum33and3rd · 12/02/2018 11:12

I love the name Silver but DH thinks it is too hippyish. Only 8 weeks pg so I still have time to work on him (if it's a girl)

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 12/02/2018 11:13

Florence 😢

HeyMicky · 12/02/2018 11:18

Adelaide
Francesca
Genevieve
Cadence

GirlcalledJames · 12/02/2018 11:23

DW vetoed Flora, Rowan, Carey, Valerie, Vivian, Ariel, Ismay, Audrey. I'm putting them on the list for next time though, just in case.
We did finally find something we both loved, though.

Globetrotter100 · 12/02/2018 11:27

Hamish. We agreed on a name we both love (and so does DS) but I've filled DS in on the backstory and he lets me call him Hamish sometimes Grin

Highpeak · 12/02/2018 11:28

Perfectly reasonable suggestions vetoed by DH with reasons :
Anna (boring)
Elizabeth (too queenie)
Rowan/Robin (didn't like unisex names)
Verity, Bryony (just didn't like)

I vetoed his only suggestion of Charlotte

We eventually found a name we agreed on for DD at 2 days old using an app!

dkb15164 · 12/02/2018 12:23

Matilda and Frankie 😭

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 12/02/2018 12:54

Gabriel and Daphne. Particulary sad about Gabriel, as I absolutely love it.

NameChangedForThisQ

"Perdita."

Your DP is a smart man.

Before we knew gender my husband vetoed Lily because he thought it sounded too much like his sister's name and Logan because he thought I chose it because I love X-Men comic books. Which isn't why I wanted it but whatev.

fearfultrill · 12/02/2018 22:59

Rowena. I'm still bitter.

Whitelisbon · 12/02/2018 23:06

Willow. Because it's "a shit film and a stupid tree". Bastard.
We ended up with Evie instead. Which is pretty but every time I shout her 15 kids turn round cos they're all called Evie.
Wouldn't have happened if she'd been Willow I tell you!

HowDoIGetOffTheBus · 12/02/2018 23:18

Globetrotter I love your post and your accommodating DS!

DH vetoed Sol which I loved. Ironically my now 18 year old not-Sol is often found drinking Sol.

RickOShay · 12/02/2018 23:19

Same coffee!
I love the name Gabriel, dh suggested Robert. How far far away we were Grin
Also vetoed were Xavier, Fabian and Kit.

allegretto · 13/02/2018 07:42

My DH vetoed Michael on the grounds of that it really wasn't a name I would have ever suggested if pregnancy hormones weren't sending me conflicting messages. He may have had a point.

Ginandplatonic · 13/02/2018 07:52

So many - Rory, Dominic, Julian, Sebastian, "anything Biblical" Confused.

From his list I vetoed Donald (pre-Trump presidency but stil...) and Stirling. He has shit taste in names. Grin

DS ended up with a nice name that has been mentioned a couple of times here tho.

Peanutty86 · 13/02/2018 15:39

Sophie, Helen/Helena, Ophelia, Edith.
His only suggestion was Annabelle which I vetoed immediately. We will never find a girls name.

ohlittlepea · 13/02/2018 15:44

Douglas
Raphael (which I was obsessed with for 6 months!)
Clover
Danielle
Tessa

Enko · 13/02/2018 16:52

Sebastian
Basil
Aida
Alannah

Frouby · 13/02/2018 17:04

I had 3 boys names. Tobias, Sebastian and Declan.

He wouldn't consider any. I told him (may have been hormonal) that I loved Tobias the best and of he said no to Tobias I would ltb.

He compromised with Sebastian.

user1459464195 · 13/02/2018 18:06

DH vetoed "anything biblical" for DS2. So he said no to Joshua, Samuel, Jonah (which he totally suited, grrr), Joel and Elijah.

He then went on to suggest Benjamin, Thomas, Nathan, Ethan and Aaron. I didn't tell him those were biblical too. Blush

DS2 is Adam....Grin

Ginnotginger · 13/02/2018 18:44

My ExDH vetoed Caitlin and with hindsight I'm glad he did as it didn't stand the test of time for me. I vetoed Asa but don't mind the name at all now.
Perdita always makes me think of perdition and I can't get past that, so sorry OP I agree with your DP/DH.
