What names did you ADORE but DP/DH vetoed?

I am mourning over the fact I'm not allowed to use Perdita. Sad

Songofthesouth · 12/02/2018 07:05

Eliza-I will never quite get over this one!
And Seth...we still have never agreed on a boys name either.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/02/2018 07:08

But Perdita means “the lost one”! Such a sad meaning!

RachelRosie · 12/02/2018 07:21

Another Aubrey, for a girl. I've loved the name for so long.

Admittedly she wouldn't suit it now and I love her actual name, which has been already mentioned here.

He vetoed my (hormonal) back up, Mabel, as well.

LyannaStarktheWolfMaid · 12/02/2018 07:31

My DD vetoed Raphael, Florian and Zephyr for DS 13 years ago. In hindsight, he had a point!

LyannaStarktheWolfMaid · 12/02/2018 07:31

*DH

birdling · 12/02/2018 09:07

Elowen, would have suited her too 😞

SleepFreeZone · 12/02/2018 09:10

I have to admit that lots of the names on this thread are awful, thank god for you’re hisbands!!!

I got Issac and Noah vetoed and I’m eternally grateful as Noah is heard everywhere I go and Issac only a close second

SleepFreeZone · 12/02/2018 09:10

*your 🙄

RoryAndLogan · 12/02/2018 09:10

Apollo

DefinitelyMaybeBaby · 12/02/2018 09:12

Jude (thinks it's "nothingy" 🙄)
Ruaridh ("too hard to spell")
Rufus ("rhymes with doofus")

whifflesqueak · 12/02/2018 09:16

Ralph. I may never forgive him. We compromised and have a Wilf instead which is a similar sound but not what I wanted.

In truth he was much quicker to veto than to make suggestions of his own which was annoying.

I also wanted Sylvia, Daphne and Ethel for our girl child but plumped for the honouring-a-grandmother name instead.

allegretto · 12/02/2018 09:17

Perdita also means "discharge" in Italian OP. Maybe that will put you off.Grin

allegretto · 12/02/2018 09:19

I was not allowed to use DH's father's name (won't put on here as very unusual) but nobody would let me. HIs dad said he always hated having an unusual name and didn't want it inflicted on anyone else.

NameChangedForThisQ · 12/02/2018 10:25

Argeles I love your taste in names
Nadiege has been a favourite of mine too

Sebastian and Xanthe.

NorthernLurker · 12/02/2018 10:30

Harriet. I mean what the heck is wrong with Harriet? He said it was because of Harriet Harman. It was 1998! Nobody would have associated them now. We went for Miranda instead which is pretty good I guess.

calilark · 12/02/2018 10:33

Meredith and Cian. I am quite pleased about the Cian veto though, I've gone right off it! Still have Meredith on the list though for a future dd

dontforgetto · 12/02/2018 10:44

Girls: Romily (Romy), Josephine, Frances
Boys: Rory, Alistair (Ali), Xavier, Zachary

:(

NameChangedForThisQ · 12/02/2018 10:47

Tiger

As it turns out ds is most definitely a Tiger. It would have suited him down to the ground.
