Keira

Kiera looks like it would be pronounced Kyra - unless that's what you were going for? Then it would be simpler to spell it Kyra

VanessaBet · 09/02/2018 11:28

I'd go for Keira, as that is how the most high profile one (Knightley) spells it, and by extension maybe how most people will assume it's spelled.

fairybunny · 09/02/2018 11:29

keer-uh is how we want it pronouncedSmile

xyzandabc · 09/02/2018 23:03

Keira or Ciara

Not Kiera

NewDOOFUSfor18 · 09/02/2018 23:07

I like Ciara

1haudyerwheesht · 09/02/2018 23:07

Ciara. Wink

Flywheel · 09/02/2018 23:08

Ciara

pieceofpurplesky · 09/02/2018 23:09

I teach one of each in the same class. They argue over who has the correct spelling!!

Tarriance · 09/02/2018 23:13

I would call Ciara ‘kee-ah-ra’

Keira.

Greylilypad · 09/02/2018 23:13

Ciara

Greylilypad · 09/02/2018 23:14

Ciara is not pronounced Kee-ah-ra

Linnet · 09/02/2018 23:15

I would spell or Kira or Ciara, no e.

LivLemler · 09/02/2018 23:17

Ciara (but I'm Irish and that's the Irish spelling, Scottish may be different).

Have a feeling I read that the actress' parents spelled her name wrong, but I might be misremembering that.

Flywheel · 09/02/2018 23:19

You're saying it wrong tarriance

afreshnewname · 09/02/2018 23:20

I say sierra for ciara

I know a Kira and a Keira both pronounced the same

starzig · 09/02/2018 23:25

Ciara

DropZoneOne · 09/02/2018 23:25

I assumed Ciara was same pronunciation as the Italian Chiara, rather than Keira. Obviously I know now that it's not!

gingercat02 · 09/02/2018 23:26

Ciara is pronounced keera if that's what you're after. That's the traditional Irish spelling. There are lots of anglised versions

Loveache · 09/02/2018 23:26

Ciara. Pronounced keer-a. It's the girls' version of Ciaran, irish name.

Please don't give your child a name and then mispronounce and/or misspell it!

SuperBeagle · 09/02/2018 23:32

I think the traditional spelling is Kiera (I'm sure someone will jump on me to tell me Ciara is the traditional spelling - don't bother, I'm aware), but Keira is more popular.

I would spell it Keira for that reason.

Ciara would be mispronounced constantly where I live. I know one and she was constantly called "see-ah-rah" and "kee-ah-rah".

Peachsploosh · 09/02/2018 23:33

Ciara is the original spelling, dating back centuries. I have a Ciara (Irish dh but living in England). She has to spell her name to people. Most assume it’s with a K. Slightly annoying but no regrets. Lovely name.
I think Keira Knightly was Kiera but in America they pronounced it incorrectly so she changed the spelling. Might have made that up though!!

calmandbright · 09/02/2018 23:34

Keira or Ciara

BikeRunSki · 09/02/2018 23:35

I only know people called Kiera (or Kieran) - I always thought that Keira, as in Knightley, was a misspelling.

Linnet · 09/02/2018 23:36

Ciara is the Irish spelling, Kira is a Persian spelling, both pronounced Keera
