Kiera or Kira

SummerRoberts · 10/02/2018 16:54

Ciara

floriad · 10/02/2018 17:39

Keira is the more common / popular spelling, I believe.

1haudyerwheesht · 11/02/2018 10:01

Why @NotAnotherEmma? That is the correct traditional spelling.

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/02/2018 18:37

Irish - Ciara from Ciaran

Scottish - Keira from Keir

English version of Ciaran is Kieran giving Kiera.

Mutated versions - Kira, Keera etc.

harrietm87 · 11/02/2018 20:34

As @WaxOnFeckOff said, except that Kira is Indian I believe, not a mutated version.

I prefer Ciara.

SuperBeagle · 11/02/2018 20:36

Kira is used in a lot of Slavic/Eastern European countries, so not a mutated version.

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/02/2018 21:04

Ah yes indeed. Was still in various parts of UK mode :)

Linnet · 11/02/2018 21:07

Kira is a Persian spelling

floriad · 11/02/2018 21:39

Kyra is a legitimate name as well.

I really like Kyra / Kira. It's the female version of Cyrus I believe...

pipilangstrumpf · 12/02/2018 06:29

Kira is a sensible spelling because the pronunciation is unambiguous
