Can't decide!
Lily or LolaSmile
Love both & don't mind about the popularity of Lily. Which one is nicer / should we go for? Thank you!

Lily. Lola is bleh

MrsMyreton · 02/02/2018 13:07

Love both but I think Lily is extra gorgeous Smile

WingsOnMyBoots · 02/02/2018 13:08

I like them both but Lily is a beautiful, refined, timeless name so I'd prefer that.

DavetheCat2001 · 02/02/2018 13:08

Lola. Lily is blah,

Sadie82 · 02/02/2018 13:09

Much prefer lola....its a bit more unusual

FallenAngel89 · 02/02/2018 13:11

Lola Smile

Porgs · 02/02/2018 13:11

We'll have a Lily if it's a girl so I'm a bit biased but I think Lily is a bit more timeless and classic than Lola. What were you thinking for a middle name?

MikeUniformMike · 02/02/2018 13:12

Lily but only if you won't mind your DD having a popular name and always being Lily Surname, and your ok with her being called Lil.
Lola is nice but has become popular quickly, which cheapens it..
You could name DD Louisa or something and use Lola as a nn perhaps.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/02/2018 13:12

Dont like either, but (circus and monkeys and all that). Lily is the far far far nicer of the two.

CoffeeOrSleep · 02/02/2018 13:19

Prefer Lily.

Lola is a showgirl. (With yellow feathers in her hair, and her dress cut down to there....)

Or Lola is the fucking annoying little sister of Charlie. She's a right brat and they are both very poorly parented. You'll get a shit tonne of branded "Charlie and Lola" crap to fill your house, and lots of annoying clothes that won't wash well with Lola all over it... (Similarly if you had a boy called Thomas, you need to be prepared for a lot of tank engine stuff)

Lily is just a pretty flower.

marmitecrumpets · 02/02/2018 13:24

Both nice but Lola just gets the edge for me

MsP0b · 02/02/2018 13:28

I know a little girl called Lola whose 3 year old sister nicknamed her Lolipop when she was born, which was lovely. She still gets called it, or Lols which is also lovely.

Lily is too common.

fruitc · 02/02/2018 13:50

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like Lily is slightly more liked than Lola!

I love Lily. It is popular but it's timeless and so pretty.

Lola is a bit naff IMO.

crackerjacket · 02/02/2018 13:59

Lily

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 02/02/2018 13:59

Lily

Dewydelight · 02/02/2018 14:09

Lily is a pets name. It's also old fashioned imo too, but not a lovely vintage kind of way like Florence for example.

Lola is such a lovely name. I think anyone who remembers the song above is likely showing the era they grew up in, and by the time the new generation of Lola's have grown I don't think anyone will be singing it to them under the age of 70

Lily is just a bit naff and so bland. Even the flower deserves a better name than that. (Though it does poison cats so maybe not.)

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/02/2018 14:14

Definitely Lily for me.

MammieBear · 02/02/2018 14:14

Lily

fruitc · 02/02/2018 14:15

looks like it's going to be Lily!

As well as Lola being a showgirl in the Barry Manilow song, she is a transvestite in the song by the Kinks. However, I am old enough to remember these songs and not in your age group.

Lily every time for me.

SpottyBrolly · 02/02/2018 14:23

Of the two Lily

Pompom42 · 02/02/2018 14:26

Lola was ‘edgy’ few years ago but very common now. I work in a Pre School we had 5 last year.
Lily is prettier I think. Could have Lilian and shorten to Lily?
Someone I know had Charlotte and shortened it to Lola, I thought Lottie would have been the shortened version

SpottyGecko · 02/02/2018 14:33

Lily.

I'm 30s but still think "Lola, L O L A, Lola" when I hear the name! (The kinks song)

ChocolateCrunch · 02/02/2018 14:51

Lily
