Can't decide!
Lily or LolaSmile
Love both & don't mind about the popularity of Lily. Which one is nicer / should we go for? Thank you!

@fizzygreenwater
I suppose Oliver is the new Gary, then?
There’s something a bit off about the way popular girls names, amelia, Olivia etc are called ‘The new Tracy or Sharon’, but popular boys names aren’t. Lily is clearly not the ‘new lisa’, it’s a name that’s been around for centuries, and can be found on the top 100 baby names of 1900, bear the top. Lisa isn’t...
The new Tracy, Sharon’s, Lisa’s etc will be Nevaeh, Taylor, Alyssa. Names that were never used, then suddenly become popular. And are used more by people who are working class.

Lola.
So many Lily's here that it makes me yawn.

PenelopeFlintstone · 03/02/2018 09:43

Lilys/Lillie's ???

sinceyouask · 03/02/2018 09:44

Lola is lovely.

PenelopeFlintstone · 03/02/2018 09:46

Auto-correct added those apostrophes both times, not me. Just saying.

fruitc · 03/02/2018 10:42

I think Lola is a porn star name. I don't know why.

RollerSkate77 · 03/02/2018 12:50

I know twins called Lily & Lola not helpful

RavenWings · 03/02/2018 15:50

Lily. Lola is a name for a Chihuahua, a showgirl or a porn star as someone mentioned above. Also reminds me of Lolita.

TatianaLarina · 03/02/2018 16:44

Balonz?

That’s a bit rogue, Ann.

Chap?

DullAndOld · 03/02/2018 16:45

cant get over Lola being a showgirl tbh, with feathers etc.
also it's short for 'Lolita'. in fact Humbert Humbert refers to Lolita as Lola a few times.
So Lily for me.

fruitc · 03/02/2018 16:51

Decided on Lily, thanks everyone! Middle name suggestions? Smile

DullAndOld · 03/02/2018 16:51

Rose

Argeles · 03/02/2018 16:54

Lola is much nicer.

I also like Paloma, which I always think of being a similar name.

PenguinsandPandas · 03/02/2018 17:13

Lily is a beautiful name.

Maybe Lily Elise
or Lily Catherine

RavenWings · 03/02/2018 17:14

Not Rose. There's a zillion kids with Rose as a middle.

Suggestions for middle:
Catherine
Rosanna (bit flowery with Lily, though)
Hope
Marie
Aurora
Rebecca
Miranda
Juliet
Caroline
Hazel (also v flowery combo to me)
Blythe
Abigail
Miriam
Faith
Serena
Pearl
Jane
Carmen

Personally I like it with a longer middle name.

fruitc · 03/02/2018 17:15

would like something perhaps a bit more uncommon than Lily, Pearl is nice Smile

OP posts:
RogueAnnJosh · 03/02/2018 17:29

Lily Pearl is beautiful!

Also:
Lily Martha
Lily Serena
Lily Esther
Lily Rowan

daisypond · 03/02/2018 18:01

I'm not sure I'd put Lily together with Pearl - they've both got some long-established weight behind them in terms of concepts of purity, chastity, innocence, etc. Perhaps another name with with less (or different) symbolism.

pilates · 03/02/2018 21:02

Lily Constance
Lily Madeline
Lily Emmeline
Lily Francesca

Valerrie · 03/02/2018 21:07

Last year I taught a Lolita.

SumAndSubstance · 03/02/2018 21:47
