Can't decide!
Lily or LolaSmile
Love both & don't mind about the popularity of Lily. Which one is nicer / should we go for? Thank you!

Lily

SuperBeagle · 02/02/2018 19:12

I love both, but I have a Lily, so I'm biased toward that one.

Lola is definitely less popular in the charts though. I think it's in the 80s here in Australia, and doesn't look to be rising, whereas Lily is in the 20s.

livinginhope87 · 02/02/2018 19:18

Lola is really strong. I love it.

BossWitch · 02/02/2018 19:20

Lola... L O L A Lola....

I wouldn't!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/02/2018 19:22

Love both, Lily just has the edge.

userabcname · 02/02/2018 19:29

Lily for sure.

rupertpenryswife · 02/02/2018 19:36

I have a Lily so second that, my DD is not often called lil as I correct everyone and so does she, Lola to me seems tacky but there are not so many, my Lily is known as Lily and first letter of surname as she has 3 others in the class. I think it's a timeless and pretty name.

AnyaMoondial · 02/02/2018 19:37

Lily is nice but Lola is utterly awesome!

daisypond · 02/02/2018 20:21

Lily. Lola is too cutesy, is a diminutive, and it gets muddled up with all the similar names - Lila, Leela, Lilah, Laa-Laa... And it's short for Dolores anyway.

postingherefortraffic · 02/02/2018 20:40

We would've had Lola if we'd had a girl. You never heard it used (apart from those two songs) and Charlie and Lola were just twinkles in their parents' eyes.

But now I'm glad we didn't as it's now very popular.

Lily is pretty, but too popular too.

What about Lyla/Lila (Lie-la) or Lilla (Lil-la) or Layla?

HairBlues · 02/02/2018 20:56

They are both pretty but probably Lily has the edge purely for being an actual flower (and a nice one at that) and therefore it seems more classic whilst also being nice for a child and also an adult.

I think Lola sounds pretty also but it has a touch of the... I don't know, rebellious? about it.

LRL2017 · 02/02/2018 20:58

Lola. My little girls name and we love it!

eatthepineapple · 02/02/2018 21:26

I just had a Lily and feel like we made the right choice, if that helps!! Loads of people seem to love it (though I guess they would say that)!

Also we chose it because I don't actually know any others, believe it or not! I know it is really popular atm though so she may well be one of many in her class...

BertrandRussell · 02/02/2018 21:27

Lily

PenguinsandPandas · 02/02/2018 21:29

Lily 😻

CPtart · 02/02/2018 21:30

Don't much like either but Lily is far 'classier'.

fruitc · 02/02/2018 21:49

Thanks everyone! Lily it is Smile

Lily is a lovely, classic, timeless name
Lola is Ok, but seems a bit 'tarty' to me.

ewanthesheepiloveyou · 02/02/2018 22:18

My two rabbits are called Lily & Lola.
not helpful I know
I slightly prefer Lily (the name, not the rabbit).
love them both equally

TatianaLarina · 02/02/2018 22:25

Or something less copycat?

RogueAnnJosh · 02/02/2018 23:03

Like what, Tatiana?

Balonz?

Mollie85 · 03/02/2018 06:49

I know you’re going with Lily, which is gorgeous, but another massive fan of Lola here.

(Plus - transvestites or showgirls are not murderers or social deviants...) The Kinks song is awesome Grin

I would definitely NOT use Lolita though... now that is a bad connotation

Koala72 · 03/02/2018 06:54

Lola.

FizzyGreenWater · 03/02/2018 09:23

Oh not another Lily. It's the Lisa of the 2010s isn't it Grin

EfficiencyDeficiency · 03/02/2018 09:28

I already had my little girls name from when I was little myself and called her Lucy.

We said if she would have been a twin then without doubt the other name would be Lola.

Dd is 7 now and I still love it.

In her primary school there is a Lola and several Lily's. I wasn't keen on Lily for a long time but actually really like it now.

Dd's baby alive dolls all have flower names and Lily is my favourite one Grin
