Blythe (is one of my dads middle names) dh said no
Quinn - dh said no
Holly - always wanted this and considered for 3 girls, didn't go with a Christmassy surname and dh hated it
Noelle - as above
Arwen - dh vetoed

Noah - always liked, too popular now
Toby - dh says is a pets name
I like Amadeus, Malachai and Atticus, names similar to that for boys but dh hates them.
When pg with dd2 I seriously considered the name Rocky... I have no idea what my pregnancy hormones were doing to me!! Probably a good thing I only have girls!

RainbowCookie · 06/12/2017 17:39

Niamh - love it but we live in Africa and no one would ever be able to pronounce or spell it, simplifying the spelling was a cop out so we went with something else

Mollie85 · 07/12/2017 18:39

I found out I couldn’t have children at 27, but prior to that the names I had “picked” were:

Seth
Otis
Theo
Amos

And:

Lola
Lucy
Dulcie
Ruby
Della

MiriAmmerman · 07/12/2017 18:53

Any of our girls names (found out at the scan that our baby due in April is a boy and he will be our only child).

So:
Hope
Clara
Esther
Eve
Iris
Annie

For boys, I also like Harry, Oliver, and Theo but DP doesn't so they're off the table too.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 07/12/2017 18:55

Riley - too widely used.

Frances - I'd struggle with this because dd2 bestie is frankie

OhPuddleducks · 07/12/2017 19:00

Claudia - dp said we weren’t posh enough to have a Claudia...

Fergus - would have dreadful with our surname.

I can give up Fergus but I’m still sad I don’t have a little Claudia.... she’s my phantom third child!!!

hollygolipo · 07/12/2017 19:08

Percy. Love it...

Mrsknackered · 07/12/2017 20:18

Happinezz it is indeed but Margaret is also a horrid family members name! I would rather not have that association. Shame as I love Meg, Maggie and quite like Peggy.

WhenLoveAndCakeCollide · 08/12/2017 11:02

Clementine and Olive - my surname begins with a fruit, so these names, and indeed any food/food-related name are out.

DH even put the kibosh on Rosemary (which would have been a great honoring name, as all our grandmothers have/had Rose or Mary either as first or middle names), due to it being a herb, but he did agree to it as a middle name at least.

Cressida was also ruled out, because of the first part of the name, for this same reason.

When I was pregnant with our daughter, I said to my DH, I kind of wish I'd taken his surname when we got married, as opposed to him taking mine (something he wanted, as his former last name, White is very common), because I realized Clementine etc were now unusable. However he then pointed out, that even White wouldn't have worked well, as Clementine White or Olive White, would sound like shades of paint. Ho hum.

BluePlasticBuddha · 08/12/2017 11:33

If I had a girl she would be called Leveret. I just love it. It feels a little mystical and magical.

PandaCat · 08/12/2017 12:06

Rory - We're having another girl

Rosalie - DD1 is Alice, and both names are in twilight, don't want possible connection to it 😂
Eleanor - Partner didn't like it

RichmondAvenue · 08/12/2017 12:07

Yasmin or Jasmine
Jemima
Daniel
William
Hermione
Albert
Arthur

2 reasons - clash with surname and DH dislikes them.

GaucheCaviar · 08/12/2017 19:50

Leveret is very close to the French for doggy style, so i'd say that's a narrow escape Grin

Mammyloveswine · 08/12/2017 21:22

I absolutely love Bertie and would use it in a heartbeat if it went with my surname... alas the poor child would be very similar to Bertie Bassett...

Love Jude but DH does not...

Girls name... Esme... or elodie!

I have a Noah and new baby will likely be Elijah

Minty82 · 09/12/2017 20:48

Leveret?! As in a baby hare? Is that genuinely used as a name?

BluePlasticBuddha · 10/12/2017 08:40

Yep baby hare.:) It was in a book I read once and I loved it. Not sure actual real life people use it! Someone must have once, though, I am sure.

MrsPringles · 10/12/2017 10:03

For a girl Alba or Miley - I really really liked them. DH was a bit on the fence.
If DS was a girl, he would have been Amelia (which I still like but is SO popular now)

Boys, we really struggled and only liked the name that we have DS so thankful that we’re DONE with naming children because we would really struggle with another boys name Grin

MegAndSprog · 10/12/2017 10:27

Samson — SIL’s boyfriend is Sam
Felix — used by family and friends
Dashiell — DH’s favourite but I think it’s a bit “cool”, though I do like it
Rafe — “too posh”

Vita — doesn’t work with surname
Iona — ditto
Zara — bit popular for me
Anoushka — glorious but definitely falls into the OTT camp!

Tuesday40 · 11/12/2017 21:16

Stella

rowtheboats · 12/12/2017 03:55

pitterpatterrain · 12/12/2017 08:53

Violetta

TeddyIsaHe · 12/12/2017 08:59

Jude - unfortunately 2 letters different to dp’s name and 1 letter differen to mine so would be a bit matchy and weird.

Clementine - dp vetoed. Still love it

KERALA1 · 12/12/2017 09:02

Alberta Lark. Dh relieved we stopped at 2 and I couldn't use these names!
