Julian goes well with Hugo. Not sure about Jules though.

Well it does conjure up a certain ‘Hugo! Mind the aga darling! Don’t singe your organic unicorn hide gloves!’ Kind of image, but overall, not dreadful.

I've always hated the name Julian. Everyone I have met has been a bully.

I love jules as a nn for a girl but not so much for a boy.

Juliuan is...OK, but as a pair with Hugo it's just too much 'ooooo' sound, IMHO.

Like some others I have an unreasonable dislike of the name Julian. I love Hugo and not sure they go together? Sorry!

Names that go with Hugo - Theo (dore), Oscar, Ben (jamin), George, Thomas...

It does go with Hugo but I'm not too keen. How about Frances, Digby or Spencer? All similar types.

I like it - we considered 'Julien' as a middle name.

'Julien' is the French spelling and is pronounced slightly differently if you wanted to follow th French way (so not 'incorrect' as a PP was suggesting) but obviously you'd have to be prepared to correct people if they assumed it was 'Julian'.

Julian is OK. Not a favourite of mine, but OK. Very Famous Five-ish.

To me though, Jules is a girl's name. Some may disagree, but it just is to me.

BertrandRussell - of course, but as I explained, they are 2 different names (typically pronounced differently) rather than the same name 'incorrectly' spelled.
